Description

Stjärnskolan is a newly built primary school with approximately 300 students.

We offer both regular primary education and adapted primary education with an associated after-school program. We are a multicultural school where we actively work with values and language development to create a safe, inclusive, and educational environment for all our students. As a school librarian with us, you will be a central part of the school's pedagogical work. You will be responsible for developing a vibrant and accessible school library for students in grades F–3. You will closely collaborate with teachers, student health, and school management to create a safe, inspiring, and equitable learning environment where all children can find joy in reading.

Responsibilities

In this position, you are expected to:

• Build, organize, and develop the school library's operations.
• Promote reading through book talks, reading sessions, thematic work, and library lessons.
• Support teachers in the work with language, reading, and writing development.
• Help students find the right book at the right level and based on their interests.
• Introduce digital tools related to information retrieval and source criticism at an age-appropriate level.
• Create a welcoming and creative library environment that encourages reading and exploration.
• Collaborate with educators to integrate the library into teaching.

The position also includes being a coordinator for the school libraries in the municipality and collaborating with the public library.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Has education in library and information science or equivalent competence.
• Is passionate about children's language development and love for reading.
• Is structured, proactive, and confident in independently driving operations.
• Enjoys working closely with students and educators.
• Has a good ability to adapt materials and methods to the needs of primary school students.
• Is creative, solution-focused, and contributes ideas for the school's continued development.

Conditions

For this position, presenting a valid extract from the police record is a prerequisite for employment. When offered employment, it is mandatory to undergo a new employee health examination.
