We are looking for a nurse for pre- and post-operative care

We are looking for someone interested in pre- and post-operative care who wants to contribute to advancing healthcare in Västmanland. Working with us is rewarding, challenging, and varied. You will be part of a wonderful team and have the opportunity to develop both yourself and the organization.

We will be expanding our operations and need reinforcement for our team. For the role, we see that you have a few years of experience as a nurse and in emergency care. Are you our new colleague?

About the workplace

At the Pre- and Post-operative department, we have our three units: Preop, Postop 2, and Postop/day surgery. The closest team consists of specialist nurses, general nurses, and nursing assistants. We work closely with all professions in the clinic and various operators, where everyone's experiences and competencies play an important role in the work. We work daily for high patient safety and focus on a holistic perspective with the patient in focus.

In the Preop unit, we prepare patients coming from home for surgery, which allows us to optimize patients and improve flows before surgery. In the Postop 2 and Postop/day surgery units, we are responsible for the post-operative care of children and adults who have undergone anesthesia and surgery within inpatient and day surgery. Patients who have undergone examinations or X-rays under anesthesia also come to us for monitoring.

We have eight care places in the Preop unit. Postop has 13 care places in each unit for Postop 2 and Postop/day surgery. The work involves rotating between the different units, and initially, it is day and evening shifts before night work is relevant.

For us, it is important that you feel good and enjoy your job, so we offer you:

  • A tailored introduction to make you feel secure and confident in your professional role
  • Opportunities for professional development through internal training
  • A workplace for different stages of life, with the possibility of flexible working hours within certain frameworks
  • Free training at our fully equipped gym
  • Wellness allowance of 3000 SEK/year

Job responsibilities

As a nurse with us, you will be offered a challenging, varied, and developing job. You will develop your ability to assess the patient's vital parameters, understand the relationships between different vital functions, and identify possible complications after surgery.

Your tasks include preparing the patient for surgery by assisting with EDA/blockade, continuously monitoring the patient's vital parameters, performing regular evaluations, and providing supportive treatment to prevent failure of vital organs. You have a significant responsibility to create conditions for the patient's recovery, prevent and alleviate pain, nausea, and anxiety in the newly operated patient by early detection of complications related to anesthesia or surgery.

Working with us means close and patient-focused work, where we work in teams and there is always someone to ask. We offer you personal development through our introduction program.

Here’s how two of our nurses describe what it’s like to work with us:

“Fun, varied, challenging, and developing!”

“I find our job incredibly meaningful; the patients are often so grateful and express it frequently. We get to work bedside and collaborate closely as colleagues, which makes the job enjoyable.”
