Job Responsibilities

As a physiotherapist at our general psychiatric reception, you will be an important part of a multidisciplinary team where you work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and administrative staff. You contribute with a holistic perspective where knowledge of how mental health issues affect the body's movement, function, and physiological reactions is central.

You will conduct assessments and treatments of patients with conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and personality issues. In your work, you will use treatment methods such as body awareness training (e.g., Basic Body Awareness), mindfulness, physical activity, relaxation and breathing exercises, motivational interviewing, and individually tailored exercise programs.

You will support patients in recognizing and understanding bodily signals, regulating stress and anxiety, and establishing sustainable routines around physical activity, recovery, and daily functioning. The work is varied and includes both individual visits and group treatments. All treatment is person-centered and takes place in close collaboration with internal and external actors.

Other tasks may occur, such as assessing the need for assistive devices before discharge from inpatient care. You will work in an environment with a good working atmosphere and excellent opportunities for consultation and collaboration with other professions both within the reception and within the clinic.

At the reception, doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and administrative staff work together. The operation is organized into three teams: two general psychiatric teams and one geriatric psychiatric team.

We receive patients with mental health issues who need specialist psychiatry and who reside in Västerås, Surahammar, and Hallstahammar. We strive for quick and good care with high quality and professional treatment. The reception is characterized by close collaboration and great respect for each other's competence.

Qualifications

You who are applying are a licensed physiotherapist. Experience in psychiatry is an advantage but not a requirement. Training in Basic Body Awareness, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and prescribing training in Visma WebSesam is also advantageous.

Since the role involves communication with patients, relatives, and colleagues, good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing is required. Other language skills are advantageous.

Employment Conditions

Permanent employment, full-time. Working hours are daytime weekdays, and we apply flexible working hours. Start date by agreement.
