Job Responsibilities

As a physician with us, you will be offered a broad specialty in obstetrics and gynecology where you will meet women of all ages. You will be welcomed to a workplace with an open climate and competent colleagues. You will have varied tasks including outpatient care, ward work, delivery, and surgery. The work involves a lot of responsibility, and support is provided in a good balance. You will also be involved in the clinic's operational and quality development.

ST in obstetrics and gynecology is a training position under supervision. Clinical training is combined with courses and other theoretical components to achieve the goal of becoming a specialist. During your ST, you will work with the ST study director and your main supervisor to create a well-thought-out plan for courses and clinical training. Your main supervisor will follow you throughout your training and work with the ST study director to ensure you have the conditions to meet your goals. Your tasks will include on-call duties as primary on-call and backup at home, as well as supervising AT doctors, BT doctors, and medical students.

About the Workplace

The Women's Clinic conducts both obstetric and gynecological activities. Within the obstetric part of the operations, there is specialist maternal care, antenatal and delivery care, postpartum care, as well as breastfeeding and postpartum follow-up clinics. Delivery rates vary, and in 2025, about 2500 children were born in Västmanland. The clinic has gynecological outpatient services and surgical operations in both Västerås and Köping. The gynecological ward in Västerås is focused on benign diseases as well as malignant diseases with oncological care. There is also a day ward for both medical and gynecological oncology activities. The clinic has over 200 employees, including about 30 doctors.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed physician with a background equivalent to Swedish AT training. You have a strong commitment to women's health care, and the position is particularly suitable for you with an interest in clinical work and the ambition to build a solid competence in gynecology and obstetrics as well as independent primary on-call work.

If you have previous experience in areas such as delivery care, gynecological outpatient care, emergency care, gynecological surgery, or ultrasound, we see it as an advantage – but the most important thing for us is your interest, commitment, and willingness to learn.
