Today, we live longer, and the needs for care are often more complex than before for the aging population.

Multimorbidity is becoming increasingly common among the elderly, which demands deeper knowledge in geriatrics and the specific care needs of older adults.

Geriatrics is the study of diseases related to aging. The older you get, the higher the risk of developing diseases, and the body's ability to cope with these stresses decreases, while there is often a significant need for care. To meet the needs of acutely ill frail elderly patients, we know that we must work entirely selflessly in multiprofessional teams where the patient is an obvious member. We also know that we need to collaborate across boundaries with other actors as we care for the same patients. Therefore, Geriatric Ward 36 has been part of Mobile Care since autumn 2021, focusing on improving and finding new forms of collaboration with municipalities and primary care.

About the Job

Region Blekinge is investing in educational positions with academic specialist training for nurses, aiming to further enhance competence in prioritized areas for better care of our patients.

You will be employed in a permanent full-time position as a nurse. The educational position lasts for one year with full-time studies, and you will receive a monthly salary as a nurse during the study period. You are entitled to contractual vacation and salary in accordance with applicable collective agreements.

After completing the training, you will be placed in a position as a geriatric nurse on ward 36 in Karlskrona.

Employment as a specialist nurse occurs after successful completion of the training, effective from the date the educational institution issues the diploma.

About You

We are looking for a licensed nurse who is applying and accepted into the specialist nursing program focused on elderly care starting in the autumn semester of 2026. Nurses accepted into the program from the local area will be prioritized for these positions.

You have a drive to work with development and improvements and see it as a challenge to undertake your specialist training closely linked to the operations you will be working in. As a person, you have the ability to see the whole picture, want to work cross-professionally, and have good collaboration skills. Clinical experience as a nurse for a few years is an advantage. Personal suitability is highly valued.

Applicants who are considered for employment must present a certificate from the Police Authority's criminal record before employment.
