The position is located at the Building Department

The University Administration serves as the support and service function for the university management as well as the core activities within research and education.

The Building Department is responsible for everything from strategic space planning, renovation and new construction projects, ongoing property administration and contract management, space and exam booking to work with environmental issues, physical work environment, and cleaning services.

The department has a strong focus on service and professional interaction, meeting the needs of the operations with high competence and quality. Good collaboration between the department's various units and functions, as well as within the university administration as a whole, is of great importance. Business development is a natural part of the work and involves being responsive, innovative, and open to trying and applying new techniques and working methods.

The Cleaning Unit, which has been Swan-certified since 2017, is responsible for cleaning operations at the university and ensures that the premises maintain the highest possible quality. The unit employs approximately 100 service assistants, six service leaders, one financial administrator, and one deputy unit manager, of which the last three functions report directly to the unit manager. Service leaders and service assistants are located at eight campus areas where they perform their tasks. The cleaning manager, also the unit manager, is located at the Cleaning Unit and reports to the Building Director, who is the head of the Building Department.

Job Responsibilities

As the unit manager for the Cleaning Unit, you have overall responsibility for leading, directing, planning, and following up on the unit's operations. The role includes full personnel responsibility, including responsibility for the work environment and conducting employee and salary discussions.

You will have the support of a deputy unit manager and six service leaders who are responsible for the operational management and staff at their respective campuses. You are also responsible for the unit's budget regarding personnel costs as well as operational and inventory costs.

Together with the unit's employees and the department's management, you will continuously work to develop the university's cleaning operations and its services. The assignment includes ensuring clear goals and expectations, appropriate staffing, and a well-functioning and efficient operation.

Collaboration with the university's operations is a central part of the role. Administrative tasks such as reporting in the university's personnel system and ordering materials and equipment are also included.

You are part of the department's management team and are expected to actively contribute to the department's long-term development.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a high school education or other education and/or experience that the employer deems equivalent. You have documented several years of experience from similar tasks as well as several years of experience in managing larger groups of staff within the service sector.

You have a good ability to lead, motivate, and develop employees in an organization that is in constant change. It is important for us that you can create engagement and move the unit forward through clear and present leadership.

Furthermore, you have documented completed leadership training or equivalent competence that the employer deems equivalent, as well as experience in driving a systematic work environment effort with good results. You have good computer skills and experience working in administrative and personnel-related systems.

You are a good communicator and express yourself correctly and clearly in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and have good knowledge of English.
