Welcome to the Culture, Sports, and Leisure Administration
The administration consists of six departments. Four of the administration's departments are primarily responsible for the cultural committee's own operations: Uppsala Library, Uppsala Leisure, Uppsala Art and Cultural Heritage, and Uppsala Culture School. Two departments within the administration are offices that work directly on behalf of the administration's management and handle matters for the cultural committee and the sports and leisure committee.
More information about working in Uppsala Municipality can be found at Uppsala Municipality's website (https://www.uppsala.se/jobb/).
We will request a criminal record extract before employment can be offered for positions that legally require it. You can read more about the areas affected on the police's website.
Do you want to use your pedagogical experience to create creative opportunities for children and young people?
We offer a developing role in an operation where aesthetic expressions become a natural and meaningful part of their leisure time.
Uppsala Culture School, which will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2026, is part of the Culture, Sports, and Leisure Administration in Uppsala Municipality. We provide instruction in instrumental playing, film, visual arts, dance, theater, singing, creative writing, choir, and orchestra/ensemble playing for children and young people in Uppsala aged 6 to 20 years. Uppsala Culture School conducts El Sistema activities, a free choir and orchestra school at three of the municipality's primary schools and collaborates with other primary schools on commissioned activities. We are located in central Uppsala and at about 40 locations throughout the municipality and have around 90 employees. Our educators are university-educated and teach individually and in groups depending on subject, level, and age in close dialogue with the student. Within the subject courses, we have over 3700 student places and reach an additional 1250 children and young people through free activities. We conduct around 200 performances and concerts each year. As a unit manager, you will be part of the culture school's management team and report to the department head. You are self-driven, actively participate in what happens in the operation, and drive the work forward in a structured and goal-oriented manner. You are accustomed to working administratively and see it as a natural part of the leadership role. With high energy and strong commitment, you have the ability to work focused even in periods of high tempo.
