Neurological Clinic is hiring a Nurse

The Neurological Clinic is a highly specialized clinic with regional responsibility for the entire Southeast healthcare region.

The clinic includes a department with an acute neurological unit, a stroke unit, a highly specialized diagnostic unit, and a monitoring unit. Furthermore, there are outpatient clinics at both the University Hospital in Linköping and Vrinnevisjukhuset in Norrköping with extensive activities in all neurological diagnostic areas, as well as a neuromuscular laboratory/unit with a national mission for highly specialized care.

Our Offer

For life ahead. Region Östergötland has high ambitions and a responsible mission. It is about health and care, about the development of our region, and about those who live and stay here. We want to continue to be at the forefront, with care, research, and education. This means daring to think anew – and having the best employees. Therefore, we offer unique opportunities for further learning and invest in modern environments with effective systems and tools. Many of us meet patients and relatives, while others create the conditions for life-saving interventions. With us, fantastic people work towards the same goal – to make a real difference, and for life ahead.

The Neurological Clinic values development, education, and innovation. We know that the work as a nurse can sometimes be challenging, and therefore we work hard to provide our nurses with support, both in daily work and in the long term. If you plan to conduct nursing research, now or in the future, we are open to discussions about how a clinical position can be combined with research at the clinic.

We are very considerate of the students who do their clinical placements (VFU) at the clinic and strive for all nurses to have supervisor training. The main supervisors work very actively on the ward, and we have won the VFU award.

Here you can read about our career ladder for nurses and also about your benefits with us.

Job Description

In ward B181, you will work with both the somatic and psychological aspects of your patients' diagnoses, as diseases in the brain and nervous system affect both of these areas. You will work with acute care, rehabilitation, and palliative care. Since patients have significant nursing needs, you have the opportunity to become an expert in nursing, your professional specialty area. You train your clinical eye as our patients' conditions can deteriorate rapidly, and you gain valuable medical experiences and knowledge. We work closely together in teams with doctors, nursing assistants, and paramedics, and have team rounds three times a week where all professions are represented.

The neurology on-call service is stationed at the university hospital even at night, which provides a short response time when needed and is a great reassurance for you as a nurse. You always have a nursing colleague to collaborate with, and the ward has a relatively high staffing level of nursing assistants relative to the patients' nursing needs.

The introduction takes place during the day, based on your own needs. We believe that an individually tailored start leads to a secure employee. We have developed our introduction program, which includes the ProAct course and a mentoring program during the first year of employment. We also offer a Clinical Foundation Year to all our newly graduated nurses.

Work Group

There are seven lead nurses at the clinic. Their task is to drive specific processes from a nursing perspective and to act as mentors and knowledge support for less experienced colleagues. This provides the clinic with good conditions for development and support for new employees. The clinic has about 150 employees.

About You

You have a nursing degree. Experience in neurology, acute care, and/or monitoring care is an advantage. You have good command of Swedish in both spoken and written form.

As a person, you take responsibility and easily adapt to changing circumstances. It is important that you can work in a structured manner and prioritize your efforts. You also have good collaboration skills.

Application and Employment

We are looking for someone interested in a rotation position day/evening/night, but if you prefer to work permanent night shifts with a reduced weekly working time of thirty-two hours, that option is also available. There is also the possibility of some partial leave if you wish. We have a wish schedule and work two out of five weekends.

We work with ongoing contracts, so please submit your application as soon as possible. Before employment in a patient-facing role within Region Östergötland, you will need to fill out a link (https://ledsys.lio.se/Document/Document?DocumentNumber=54500).

Warm welcome to submit your application! If you need help registering in the system, please contact customer service Support and Service, 010-103 60 00, during office hours.

To staffing, placement, and recruitment companies and to you as a seller: We kindly but firmly decline direct contact with staffing, placement, and recruitment companies as well as other external actors and sellers of additional job advertisements. Region Östergötland has contracted agreements.
