JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with the client. Work at the detention center is often routine-oriented and focused on care and security tasks. Clients may be detained for long periods without meeting anyone other than their lawyer and the staff at the detention center, which places special demands on you as a correctional officer.
Working as a correctional officer means you can make a difference for other people and contribute to a better society. To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the fundamental values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop.
QUALIFICATIONS
Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good collaboration skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment.
- Completed high school education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
- Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
- Good computer skills.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Work experience from corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social services.
- Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
- Relevant language skills.
- A valid driver's license (B).

The operations of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service run around the clock, year-round. This means that you will work days, evenings, and weekends. Some schedules involve night shifts.
