Beroendecentrum Stockholm is looking for a Nurse for the Needle Exchange
Beroendecentrum Stockholm is Sweden's largest addiction clinic. We offer support and help to individuals struggling with alcohol, drugs, medications, or gambling. Our services include emergency and inpatient care, local outpatient care, and highly specialized treatment. We also conduct university healthcare, research, and education.
The Stockholm Needle Exchange, which is part of Beroendecentrum Stockholm, was previously located in two clinics but is now only situated at Maria Hospital and in a mobile service.
Our main mission is to work with infection control and improved health within the patient group. People who inject drugs come to us to, among other things, exchange their needles and syringes. Here, a team of competent and dedicated staff work in various professions such as nurses, doctors, case managers/social workers, and midwives.
The Work
As a nurse at the Needle Exchange, you will receive patients who inject drugs intravenously. Your tasks will include exchanging injection tools, testing for hepatitis and HIV, treating hepatitis C, vaccinations, and wound dressings. You will also conduct motivational interviews and provide information on infection control measures related to drug use. We document in the Take Care journal system and in the Inf Care quality register for needle exchange.
Personal Qualities and Qualifications
You are a flexible and solution-focused team player. You have experience working with this patient group, either in addiction care, psychiatry, infectious diseases, primary care/district, or another sector. You enjoy working in a team and have a strong commitment to the patient group. You are a positive and solution-oriented person who contributes to an open work environment.
It is important to us that you have an empathetic approach and see the person before the addiction. We prefer that you have several years of experience in the profession and feel confident in your role as a nurse. Experience in addiction care is an advantage, as well as experience as a case manager or significant experience assisting patients in contact with social services, or if you have worked within social services yourself.
We will place great importance on personal suitability.
Employment Type
We are looking for nurses for hourly employment for the summer, weeks 25 – 35, with training in the weeks prior to week 25.
Working hours: weekdays 9 AM - 4:30 PM without weekends, with evening shifts (until 6:30 PM) on some Wednesdays/month.
Apply by February 22 - or why not today.
Please include in your motivation letter why you are interested in working at the Needle Exchange and discuss how you view the role of a nurse here.
