Description
At the building and environmental unit, there are currently 18 people working in the fields of environment, food, health protection, construction, housing adaptation, alcohol, tobacco, and over-the-counter medications.
We are now looking for a colleague to join the environmental group.
The work is free and flexible, and you control how you organize your tasks. We prioritize organizational development and training for employees and work closely together based on combined competence and experience. We also value time for reflection, collaboration, and discussion to ensure the quality of our methods and decisions. Everyone in the department has their own office. The workplace is centrally located in Ljusdal, close to shops, restaurants, and bus and train stations with good connections to both Hudiksvall, Bollnäs, and Gävle.
Working within Ljusdal municipality means, among other things, that you can take part in a wellness allowance, currently up to 3000 SEK per year. There is also the possibility of flexible working hours tailored to employees' needs. After consultation with the manager, there is an opportunity for remote work up to 40 percent per week.
Responsibilities
As an environmental inspector, you will work with supervision, processing, and assessment within the Environmental Code. Your tasks will involve planning, conducting, and following up inspections as well as processing application and notification matters. The work involves a lot of contact with both companies and private individuals. The position can be partially adapted based on competence/interests.
- Conduct inspections and supervision of activities to ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
- Process notifications and permit applications according to the Environmental Code.
- Analyze and assess test results.
- Investigate environment-related complaints from the public.
- Provide advice and information to businesses and the public on environmental issues and legislation.
- Participate in projects and campaigns to promote sustainable development.
The work as an environmental inspector is varied and combines office work with fieldwork/company visits; therefore, a driving license is required.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a university or college degree in environmental science, health protection, law, natural sciences, or another field that the employer considers equivalent.
You may also have a different university or college degree, combined with work experience that the employer deems relevant for the position. For new hires without experience, we apply learning in the workplace and training, both internally and externally.
Experience in environmental inspections and supervision is an advantage, as is a good knowledge of environmental legislation and regulations.
We are looking for someone who is analytical, structured, and has a genuine interest in environmental issues. You are responsible and have a good ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Your communication skills and service orientation enable you to easily build trust and good relationships with both colleagues and the public.
