Food Inspector for the Environmental Unit in Bollnäs Municipality

Bollnäs Municipality's Community Building Administration consists of 33 employees distributed across four different units: Building, Environment, Planning, and Mapping & Measurement.

We plan and facilitate community building in the municipality, which includes strategic overview and detailed planning, processing building and environmental cases, and creating maps.

Description

The Environmental Unit consists of nine people who work with supervision and processing of cases within the environmental, health protection, and food areas, as well as one person who works with administration.

You will have an office in the city hall, centrally located in Bollnäs with good communication options and proximity to shops. We offer a stimulating work environment with engaged colleagues and good opportunities for professional development.

Responsibilities

As a food inspector in the Environmental Unit, you will ensure that food businesses in the municipality comply with applicable legislation. Your main responsibilities include:

• Conducting inspections of food businesses according to food legislation.
• Investigating complaints and suspected food poisoning cases.
• Planning and carrying out inspections, following up on results, writing reports, and making decisions.
• Providing information and advice to food entrepreneurs and the public.
• Collaborating with colleagues within the Environmental Unit to develop and improve the municipality's food control.
• Using the case management system EDP Vision for documentation and follow-up.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an academic education in areas such as environmental and health protection, nutrition science, food agronomy, or other equivalent education focused on food hygiene. To succeed in this role, we prefer that you have:

• Knowledge of food legislation.
• Experience in inspection work, which is an advantage.
• Good collaboration skills and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, in Swedish.
• The ability to make objective and factual assessments, set clear requirements, and make decisions in a regulatory role.
• Pedagogical ability and a professional approach in the advisory role.
