Do you want to help create a sustainable and attractive urban environment that adds value for the residents and the environment in Järva? We have transitioned to operating parks and green areas in-house and are now looking for an engaged park worker.

The Järva district is on an exciting journey of change where we have taken over the management of waste collection and maintenance of parks and green areas in municipal administration. The operation is new and is conducted based on a new political mandate. Here you will contribute to shaping work methods and developing the operation together with a dedicated and driven team. The Järva district consists of the neighborhoods of Akalla, Husby, Kista, Rinkeby, Tensta, Hjulsta, Bromsten, Flysta, Lunda, Sundby, and Solhem, where over 90,000 residents live.

As a park worker, you will be part of the new unit for the management of parks and green areas. The unit consists of three team leaders and a team of park workers and gardeners led by a unit manager. The group operates from a shared facility in Sundby, where the workshop, machinery hall, storage, dining room, and office are located. The operational work began on a smaller scale in the summer of 2025 and is carried out alongside the existing operational contract in the district. From October 2025, the unit took over the management of waste collection and maintenance of parks and green areas in its entirety. Winter road maintenance will not be included in the unit's operational assignment.

Your role

As a park worker, you contribute to creating a well-maintained and pleasant environment for Järva's residents with the goal of working long-term, sustainably, and circularly. You will be part of a stable team with good competence and great commitment. Together with the other park workers and gardeners in the unit, you form the park group and have daily dialogue with the three team leaders of the operational area. Each year from April to October, the operation is reinforced with seasonal employees.

Your tasks will vary throughout the year and may include:

• landscape maintenance, such as lawn mowing and weed removal
• waste collection
• pruning of trees and shrubs
• hedge trimming
• planting of trees, shrubs, perennials, and more
• supervision of playgrounds, dog parks, outdoor gyms, and more
• maintaining and repairing park and playground equipment.

Both the role and the unit are new and under development, which means that other tasks may occur. You will work 38.5 hours per week with fixed working hours. Weekend work will occur during holidays and high season from April to October.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

• documented and current experience in practical work with landscape maintenance
• current experience working with riding lawn mowers and handheld machines such as trimmers, leaf blowers, and hedge trimmers
• driving license (B) for passenger cars
• good verbal skills in Swedish

It is advantageous if you have:

• post-secondary education in areas such as horticulture or landscaping, or other education deemed suitable by the employer
• proficiency in languages other than Swedish and English
• experience and knowledge of nature conservation management
• experience and qualifications for using chainsaws and/or brush cutters
• knowledge in craft services such as carpentry, welding, and painting
