Assistant Nurse/Sterile Technician for Sterile Technical Department

Within the AnOpIva clinic in Umeå, acute and planned surgical care, anesthesia with associated postoperative care, intensive care for children and adults, as well as sterile technical operations are conducted at the regional and county level in close collaboration with other clinics in the region. The clinic is also responsible for airborne intensive care in the north. The clinic's mission includes conducting research, development, and education.

The sterile technical department is a service unit with the main task of providing surgical operations with sterile surgical equipment. Within the department, instruments are washed, functionally tested, packed, and sterilized for surgical departments, health centers, and private clients. The department also has a large flow of storage operations. A total of 37 people work in teams within the job categories of healthcare assistant, service assistant, nursing assistant, operating room nurse, and sterile technician.

Staff rotate between workstations to create a varied work environment. Occasionally, heavy lifting and physical work occur. You will have the opportunity to work with a positive team that takes pride in their workplace and is accustomed to changes. The onboarding process is individualized and adapted to needs, but lasts at least 3 months.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an assistant nurse/sterile technician with us, you provide important service and enable efforts that affect many.

Within the sterile technical department, you will work with the handling of sterile goods for reusable and disposable medical products. The work involves preparing surgical equipment for operations in the form of cleaning, functional testing, packing, and sterilization. Additionally, participating in improvement work within the department is included.

After your initial training, you will follow a schedule that includes day, evening, weekend, and night shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS

For this job, you need to have sterile technician training or be a nursing assistant. You should have an interest in medical technology and knowledge, as well as a high level of hygiene awareness. You should have a good sense of numbers and an eye for detail. At times, the pace of work is high, and you should therefore be able to handle varying work tempos. You are good at prioritizing what is most important at the moment and have the ability to maintain focus on the task. Additionally, we would like you to have a service-oriented and professional attitude, as the operation has close collaboration with its clients.

Experience in sterile technical work or surgical operations is an advantage.
