About the Job

As the department head, you will lead the Sterile Technology Unit's operations at three locations: Varberg, Halmstad, and Kungsbacka. You will have direct responsibility for personnel, work environment, quality, and the unit's processes and flows at all locations. Your task includes ensuring high and consistent quality throughout the care chain, where sterile technology operations are a prerequisite for safe and effective patient care.

You will have support from coordinators and quality managers, which provides good conditions for structured, systematic, and development-oriented work.

As the department head, you will be part of the management group of the Operation and Intensive Care Clinic together with the operations manager, medically responsible doctors, and other department heads. Together, you will work on both daily leadership and long-term development in line with the hospital's goals and strategies.

Leading an operation at three locations requires a trust-based and communicative leadership style. You actively work to create common working methods, clear structures, and a cohesive culture where all employees feel seen, involved, and engaged – regardless of geographical location.

We offer an introductory program tailored to your background, as well as access to Region Halland's management training and forums. You will be employed indefinitely in your base profession with a management appointment for four years.

About the Workplace

The Sterile Technology Unit is a central and critical part of Operation and Intensive Care at Halland Hospital. The unit operates in Varberg, Halmstad, and Kungsbacka and is part of a clinic with approximately 350 employees who are staffed around the clock.

The Sterile Technology Unit consists of about 45 employees distributed across three locations. The operation has good staffing and a balanced economy. The annual production includes approximately 200,000 sterilized packages delivered to around 120 healthcare customers. Our customers rely on high quality, precision, and efficiency to provide patients with safe and secure care.

In 2026, the operation in Varberg will expand through new assignments, creating further opportunities for development, change work, and innovation.

Qualifications

A minimum of a high school education is required. We would prefer that you have:

• a higher education in healthcare or another relevant field
• documented leadership experience
• training in leadership and organization

Experience in sterile technology operations is an advantage. Personal suitability is of great importance.
