We are now looking for summer substitutes to cover for regular staff during their vacations.

The social emergency service is part of the Social Administration Center and serves the entire City of Gothenburg and 12 surrounding municipalities. The work involves exercising authority according to SoL, LVU, and LVM. The service operates 24/7, with working hours primarily scheduled for evenings, nights, and weekends.

As a social worker in the social emergency service, you will encounter a wide range of cases and tasks, where no day is the same. You never know what to expect when you start your shift, but you always know you’ve done your job when you leave. You handle acute social problems for individuals within various target groups and ages in social services. Some of the tasks include risk assessments regarding children at risk, decisions on placements in protected accommodations for victims of violence, decisions on emergency housing, assessments for emergency financial assistance, placements in HVB, SIS for children and youth, LVM assessments of reports regarding substance abuse, and a lot of counseling and referrals.

We have a close collaboration primarily with the police and healthcare, but we work with all community agencies. The tasks may include home visits or other forms of assignments, such as visits to BUP, maternity wards, or the migration agency. During the day, tasks mainly consist of handing over information from the evening and night shifts to the regular social office, directing citizens and partners correctly in the city, and managing acute situations for individuals without ties to the City of Gothenburg.

The service is managed by a head of operations and two unit managers with shared leadership. A senior social worker is available for work management at all hours of the day. We have our own payroll administrator and a reception. In the evenings, nights, and weekends, the reception is staffed by a security guard due to the many spontaneous visits we receive, both directly and via the police. You will work both independently and collaboratively with your team colleagues. The staff group consists of experienced and competent employees, many of whom have worked in the social emergency service for a long time.

The summer period runs from June to August (approx. week 25 - week 33). We will prioritize candidates who can work the entire or most of the summer period and can be trained for hours during the spring. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and nights - weekdays and weekends.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a qualified social worker. Since the work requires a high degree of independence, we require at least 2 years of experience in exercising authority at a social office. If you have 5 years of experience or more, we consider that a strong merit. You also need to have experience in exercising authority within Children and Youth in social services. Additionally, you should have experience working with SoL, LVU, and/or LVM.

If you have experience working in a reception group at a social office, we consider this a merit. Since the social emergency service is staffed 24/7, you need to be able to work day, evening, and night shifts, both weekdays and weekends.
