Your Responsibilities

This position is located at the Department of Education and Didactics (PeDi). The department conducts research in several areas relevant to education, didactics, and pedagogical work; teachers' work and leadership in schools, classroom interaction, students' learning, assessment and grading, children's and students' reading and writing development, didactics of reading and writing instruction, mathematics didactics, special education, conflict management, bullying and group processes, equal opportunities, as well as values and norms in school practice. To enhance understanding of these areas, various methods for empirical studies are applied, such as field studies, interviews, tests, and observations.

As a university lecturer in education, you will teach at both undergraduate and advanced levels in the field of mathematics didactics in teacher education. This also includes teaching at an advanced level in the special teacher education program focusing on mathematical difficulties. Your main responsibilities will include conducting teaching, educational administrative work, and research. Teaching in independent courses, commissioned courses, and collaboration with the surrounding community may also be included in your responsibilities.

We expect you to be active in the research community, participate in the department's activities such as seminars and workshops, engage in research projects, communicate results through scientific publications, and contribute to attracting external research funding.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has a doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence with a focus on mathematics didactics, and has demonstrated pedagogical skill in the area of mathematics in Swedish schools as well as special pedagogical skill in the area of mathematics instruction.

For this position, equal importance will be placed on scientific competence relevant to the field and pedagogical competence, and secondarily on other skills that are assessed as equivalent.

Regarding scientific competence, the following will be assessed:

• The requirement for the position is documented scientific competence in education with a focus on mathematics didactics.
• Particularly meritorious is documented scientific competence in intervention and effect studies within the focus area.

Regarding pedagogical competence, the following will be assessed:

• The requirement for the position is documented pedagogical competence in education with a focus on children's/students' learning.
• The requirement for the position is documented pedagogical competence in mathematics instruction in Swedish schools.
• Particularly meritorious is documented pedagogical competence in the area of special education with a focus on mathematics didactics.
• Meritorious documented pedagogical competence from teaching in teacher programs at the university level, in mathematics didactics, as well as in special teacher and special education programs.

Regarding other skills, the following will be assessed:

• Particularly meritorious is a completed teacher's degree for primary school.
• Particularly meritorious is a completed special teacher's degree in mathematical difficulties.
• Particularly meritorious is also experience working as a mathematics teacher with students in Swedish schools, as well as working as a special teacher in Swedish primary schools.
• Meritorious is demonstrating good ability to collaborate with both colleagues and students.

Since teaching and research are conducted in Swedish, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach and conduct research in Swedish. As we strive to publish scientific texts internationally as well as nationally, you should be able to demonstrate the ability to publish research in both English and Swedish.
