At Vattenfall, we work to ensure that everyone can choose fossil-free ways to transport, produce, and live. We look forward to your application!

Vattenfall Eldistribution is now looking for a summer intern to work on analyzing the probability of faults in the electricity network.

In this role, you will be part of the Asset Performance department. The team consists of about 15 employees who monitor the status and risk exposure of our facilities. Through analyses and investigations, we evaluate deviations from expected delivery and performance of our electricity network. We work closely with operations, projects, and maintenance, and develop methods for predictive and condition-based maintenance.

The work involves:

  • Analyzing and comparing CNAIM's calculated probabilities of faults with actual fault statistics from Vattenfall Eldistribution's network.
  • Identifying any deviations and suggesting improvements or adjustments to the model for Swedish conditions.

You will have access to relevant data, guidance from experienced analysts, and the opportunity to contribute to the development of future maintenance strategies.

CNAIM (Common Network Asset Indices Methodology) is a method for assessing and reporting risks for network assets within electricity networks. The model is used to calculate the probability of failure (Probability of Failure, PoF) and the consequences of failure (Consequence of Failure, CoF) for different types of facilities. The task is to evaluate whether the probabilities of failure calculated with the CNAIM model correspond to the actual observations in our network.

Through this summer job, you will gain experience working in an analyst role, which may also lead to a continued part-time position during the academic year.

Requirements

Mandatory:

  • You are pursuing a post-secondary education.
  • You have completed an introductory course in statistical analysis.
  • You have practical knowledge of Python, R, or similar languages for quantitative analysis.
  • You are fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Desirable:

  • Advanced statistical or econometric knowledge.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering.
  • Reliability calculations or other knowledge related to fault statistics.
  • Coursework that has dealt with Weibull distributions and Taylor series.

We are looking for someone with an analytical and curious approach to their work. You take responsibility for your tasks, work in a structured manner, and enjoy solving complex problems. We also see that you are goal-oriented and have the ability to make balanced priorities to drive processes forward and create results. With commitment and a desire to develop, you contribute new perspectives and are eager to seek new challenges.
