The Norrbotten Regiment, I19, is one of Sweden's largest regiments. I19 is tasked with producing combat units for the Norrbotten Brigade. The brigade's units are specialized in combat in subarctic environments. I19 is the lock in the North.

At I19, the Norrbotten Armored Battalion is responsible for the daily training and production of two armored battalions that are part of the Norrbotten Brigade, with offensive combat in subarctic environments as the main capability. The battalions include the latest variants of Combat Vehicle 90 and Stridsvagn 122.

FLF FIN (Forward Land Forces Finland)

The Norrbotten Brigade - NmekB 19 is now recruiting soldiers and officers, who will primarily focus on operating and serving with a force within the multinational force to FLF Finland. The offer includes employment at NmekB 19 and Boden Garrison, where you can be part of a historic task for the Garrison, the Norrbotten Brigade, the Armed Forces, and Sweden within the framework of NATO.

The current planning direction is that the majority of the force contribution will be stationed in Boden and conduct operations within the framework of NmekB 19 and FLF FIN in both Sweden and Finland. The activities will include exercises, training, education, and readiness in both Sweden and Finland.

Qualifications:

  • Completed basic training with passing grades.
  • Possess knowledge and competence for the applied position obtained from basic training or GSS employment.

Employment form: The position is a GSS/K employment that begins with a 6-month probationary period. After that, a fixed-term employment of up to 8 years with the possibility of extension for up to 4 years.

The employment entails a duty to serve both nationally and internationally.

The employment means that you will be war-placed at NmekB 19, at the combat unit you are employed at.

All candidates for the position must undergo physical tests and security clearance interviews. Test weekends are planned at I19 between weeks 611 and 613. Selection will occur continuously, and therefore, invitations will be sent close to the test date. No other test opportunities will be offered for this recruitment period.

I19 is one of Sweden's largest regiments with operations in Boden, Kiruna, Tåme, and Grubbnäsudden/Lomben. The main location and leadership for the regiment are in Boden.

The regiment's most important task is to build combat units, and in the coming years, I19 will gradually develop the new Norrbotten Brigade. By 2028, the regiment should be able to train, stockpile, and mobilize the entire brigade, including the associated functional units; command, field works, air defense, and logistics. The brigade should be able to conduct combat in all environments but be specialized for combat in the subarctic environment of the Nordic region.

The regiment also hosts the Armed Forces' winter unit, which is tasked with coordinating and supporting the development of the Armed Forces' winter capabilities.

The conscription training is conducted at the Norrbotten Armored Battalion, which is responsible for training and maintaining units for the Norrbotten Brigade. The regiment also consists of the regimental staff, Armed Forces Health, Garrison Support Unit, Logistics Unit, and Local Planning Unit.
