Norrbotten Air Force Wing, F 21

Norrbotten Air Force Wing, F 21, is Sweden's northernmost air force wing. The main base is in Luleå, with sub-bases in Jokkmokk and Vidsel. F 21's mission is to deliver air operational effect through the fighter squadrons and JAS39. F 21 has one of the world's largest air exercise areas, used by both Swedish Air Force units and units from other countries.

Unit Seeking

The Field Maintenance Platoon is part of the R3 Company, which is a part of Norrbotten Air Force Wing, F 21. The company is responsible for the operation of three airports, one of which operates around the clock, every day of the year, as well as the wing's training of conscripts within R3 service.

The airport field maintenance at Kallax Airport is a very important part of the airport's operations, ensuring accessibility and flight safety for both civilian and military aviation.

The main task of the platoon is to conduct field maintenance services such as snow removal, ice prevention, and wildlife exclusion. Other tasks include repairing damage to runways or other surfaces, fieldwork, and clearing unexploded ordnance.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for someone with good social skills and flexibility, who is careful and responsible as the position often requires independent work and working in smaller units.

You want to develop as a leader in peace, crisis, and war and have a desire to work with the platoon leader to develop your personnel and platoon. A background in the Air Force is an advantage but not a requirement.

Regardless of background, it is important that you are meticulous and unpretentious, which also means you are a good team player. You are flexible and can handle temporary peaks in workload without becoming stressed and have a good ability to make decisions. Good collaboration with superiors and subordinates is a given. Being proactive, resourceful, and able to work under pressure is a prerequisite for the unit to function.

You and the platoon leader stand up for your employees but are also not afraid to set demands. You are careful and follow up your assigned tasks in a way that elevates your subordinates to greater heights. You tackle problems directly as they arise and have a good ability to read when it is time to act, i.e., when it is on or off.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the platoon leader in managing the platoon's tasks
  • Personnel issues such as work schedule planning, training plans
  • Participate in the systematic work environment efforts in the platoon
  • Financial work such as budgeting, follow-up, and reporting
  • Responsible for necessary competence development
  • Revision of routines and operational manuals
  • Support the company's training, including conscript training
  • Plan and conduct exercise activities
  • Participate in activities ordered by the wing regarding readiness and exercises.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Approved officer/specialist officer education (OR6)
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English
  • Driving license category B

Personal Attributes

Your personal attributes are characterized by great attention to detail, collaboration skills, responsibility, and the ability to work independently.

  • High learning ability due to intensive training and exercises
  • High flexibility as the exercise and operational environment is often dynamic

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Meritorious

  • Driving license category C, CE or military driver's license
  • Wheel loader according to TYA/BYN or military driver's license
  • Approved position training for the sought position
  • Trained field maintenance leader
  • Experience with the PRIO system
  • Experience with administrative tasks
  • Instructor competencies within R3's area of work

Other

Employment type: Permanent, the Swedish Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not employed by the authority.

Employment rate: Full-time 100%

Work location: Luleå

Military position

Travel within the service may occur, follow-up tests for FM FysS are conducted annually.
