Håbo Library is now seeking a children's librarian focused on children aged 0-6 years.

Håbo Library is an integrated public library and high school library located in central Bålsta, about 30 minutes from Stockholm and Västerås. The library is part of the Department of Children and Education and an established arena for cultural events and holiday activities through author evenings, lectures, book clubs, children's theaters, writing workshops, and activities during school breaks.

We focus on reading promotion, digital participation, accessibility issues, and matters concerning equality and equal treatment. The library is an HBTQI-certified organization and actively works with these issues. For many years, the library has invested heavily in local collaboration and outreach work. We collaborate with several other actors and constantly strive to strengthen our outreach work and reach all our target groups.

Your Responsibilities

As a children's librarian, you will be responsible for a pedagogical children's program with books and cultural experiences at the center for children aged 0-6 years.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

Purchasing children's media and maintaining the media collection.
Participating in several collaborations with, among others, Open Preschool, BVC, preschools, the language network, the SLS group (Language, Reading, and Writing Developers), Allas barnbarn.
Planning and developing children's activities aimed at the youngest children and their parents.
Working with creative activities and holiday events for children.
Performing administrative tasks related to the library's operations.

Work at the library's information desk as well as weekend and evening shifts are included.

Before an employment offer, an acceptable extract from the police criminal record must be presented.

Qualifications

Completed bachelor's degree in library and information science or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
Experience working with preschool-aged children is an advantage.
Experience in children's activities at libraries.
Knowledge and methods in reading promotion, information, and literature dissemination for children in a pedagogical manner.
Knowledge of languages other than Swedish. Håbo Municipality is a Finnish administrative area, so please inform us if you are Finnish-speaking.
