One of the Army Staff's focus areas is to build the new army. An army that focuses on capability in the field and in this builds new as well as restructure existing units. The Army Staff develops and produces the army's war units and subordinate units and schools.

The Position Offers

As a Russian-speaking interpreter at the Army Staff's Intelligence and Security Department, you will work closely with the analysts who gather and process intelligence information. You will primarily work with information from open sources, which, together with other information, is processed by intelligence analysts to contribute to the situational picture and assessments made by the department. The position will provide you with a solid foundation for further development within the intelligence and security field, and we are primarily looking for those who see further development within the function ahead. Further education within the intelligence and security function is included as a natural part of the position.

About the Unit

The Intelligence and Security Department is a department within the Army Staff's implementation unit that works broadly across the Army Staff's processes and time perspectives in everything from implementation, planning, and development of new capabilities and services.

The department gathers and processes intelligence information to create decision-making support for the Army Chief, the Army Staff, and the army's units in both the short and long term. Cooperation with partner countries is an essential part of the work to create a common situational picture. The department also leads the security service within the army.

Main Responsibilities

  • Translation of primarily text but also some speech
  • Gathering from open sources
  • Support to the work of intelligence analysts

Qualifications

  • Completed Swedish military basic training with approved grades
  • Good proficiency in Russian, including military terminology
  • Good ability to express oneself in both speech and writing, in both Swedish and English
  • Good computer skills
  • Driving license B
  • Swedish citizenship

Desirable/Preferred

  • Completed language training at the Defense Language School
  • Previous experience or education in the intelligence field
  • Previous experience of working within the Armed Forces
  • Previous experience of working with open sources

Personal Qualities

To fit the position, it is necessary to be able to process large amounts of information in a short time and distill the relevant information elements from this. This work requires great attention to detail but also the ability to see the whole in what is often a fragmented basis. The position requires a lack of pretentiousness as the department works as a team and not as individual members. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability for the position. Conditions

The employment form requires an approved security clearance.

The Army Staff is a war unit, which means that you will be war-placed, and you are expected to be able to operate across the entire readiness scale (peace, crisis, war). You should also expect to be on standby at times.
