The Technical Service Administration is Trelleborg Municipality's enabling administration. We are a safe, secure, and value-creating resource that works proactively, efficiently, and sustainably together with those who live, work, and spend time in Trelleborg Municipality. The administration's five departments have overall responsibility for planning, managing, and developing public spaces in various areas. We do this, for example, by taking care of the municipality's public places, waste management, sewage management, water supply, and infrastructure. We also deliver internal services such as operation and maintenance of municipal facilities, cleaning, system management, and IT support.

The Workplace

The department of Circulation and Water is a department within the Technical Service Administration.

The department's common mission is to ensure that the municipality's water and sewage operations function so that our subscribers receive good drinking water and that sewage is treated before it reaches the recipient. The department is also responsible for the collection of waste and materials for recycling and reuse in the municipality. We have 70 employees distributed across six units and two sections.

The Waste Management Unit is responsible for waste collection and operates two recycling centers (ÅVC) in-house. The collection of sludge and grease is carried out by contracted entrepreneurs.

In the collection section, we have 16 waste workers, one supervisor, and a section manager. We are now looking for a waste worker to strengthen our workgroup! You will be part of a team of experienced waste workers where good service and safety are key principles. We strive for a balanced gender distribution and see diversity as a strength.

Job Responsibilities

As a waste worker, you will work as a driver with property-close waste collection throughout Trelleborg Municipality. Municipal waste is collected according to a fixed schedule at villas, apartment buildings, and businesses. Your main tasks will be to empty various waste materials into a rear-loaded garbage truck, manage the vehicle's digital equipment, and be responsible for the maintenance of your vehicle. As a waste worker with us, you will have the opportunity to work outdoors in the fresh air and move around a lot in your job. Our vehicle fleet currently consists of eight four-compartment trucks, five two-compartment vehicles, and a service vehicle.

The position is a temporary employment, on an as-needed basis, for example, during the absence of regular staff. Therefore, you are not guaranteed a certain number of hours/days per week. Normal working hours are between 06:00 - 14:00.

Qualifications

For the position, a C driver's license, professional competence certificate, and one year of work experience from similar assignments in the waste and recycling industry, as well as experience in professional traffic, are required.

Since the work involves daily physical activity, such as handling containers and repeatedly getting in and out of the truck, it is required that you have good physical ability. Furthermore, the assignment requires you to be computer literate, as we document using digital tools, such as deviation reporting, and have the ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish, as we communicate daily with colleagues and citizens, work according to instructions and routines, etc.

Working as a waste worker with us means you are given significant responsibility in your daily work. To succeed in the role with us, you need to be service-oriented, communicative, and flexible. You act responsibly, are meticulous, and perform your work in a service-oriented manner with a focus on the customers and citizens you meet. You have good collaboration skills, as well as enjoying working independently. Furthermore, you adapt easily to changing circumstances and can quickly change your perspective and approach when situations arise in the work. You respect and value your colleagues and share your knowledge and experiences.
