Job Description

LFV is running an exciting project (Sweden Flight Information Service) aimed at freeing up air traffic controller capacity by providing a dedicated flight information service in the lower uncontrolled airspace. We are now looking for 4 new employees to help build and staff this function.

The job primarily involves providing advice and information to pilots for a safe and efficient air traffic service. In the role of FISO, you will communicate via radio with pilots in your sector and provide information about, among other things, restricted areas, surrounding traffic, and weather conditions. You will also be responsible for alerting in case something unforeseen happens. The role also includes being an instructor for students and contributing to the training of new colleagues.

We are looking for someone who has:

• High school diploma
• Good computer skills and knowledge of the Office suite
• Good knowledge of Swedish
• Good knowledge of English (at least passing grade in English 5)
• High logical ability and good problem-solving skills
• Quick comprehension and attention to detail
• Fully healthy with normal hearing and color vision. (A medical examination for a class 2 medical certificate will be conducted during the selection process)

Swedish citizenship is required for this position.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Basic ATS/ATC/FIS training
• Previous experience in operational work from aviation, control center, or other equivalent activities

Competencies:

You will be part of a workgroup with a new composition every day where you depend on each other to solve tasks. You will work closely with others, which requires good collaboration, humility, and flexibility. Therefore, excellent teamwork skills are essential. You will also work alone at times, which requires good decision-making ability and the ability to prioritize tasks. The pace of work varies, requiring you to be able to speed up when the workload is high but also to maintain focus and motivation during low workload periods. The operation is rule-based and requires you to follow regulations and directives, and to be analytical, meticulous, and solution-oriented.

Employment

For the position of FISO, a valid Basic ATS, Basic ATC, or Basic FIS training is required, which the employer will provide. If Basic ATS/ATC/FIS is lacking, training for FISO will begin with Basic FIS, starting in week 37, alongside a temporary trainee employment. The training lasts for 14 weeks and is conducted at the air traffic control school Entry Point North in Hyllie, Malmö. After Basic FIS, specialist training will follow, consisting of theoretical and practical training for about 5 months. This part of the training is conducted at the Air Traffic Control Center ATCC Malmö at Sturup.

If you already have an approved Basic ATS, Basic ATC, or Basic FIS training, a temporary trainee employment for specialist training at ATCC Malmö will begin, with dates to be agreed upon. After successful completion of the training, you will be permanently employed at ATCC Malmö.
