JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Kriminalvården provides certain open health and medical care, which means that all prisons and remand centers have medical clinics where inmates can seek care. At the clinic in Norrtälje, in addition to four nurses, there are also consultants such as general practitioners, psychiatrists, and physiotherapists. As a nurse, you will have your own clinic for assessing minor ailments, but you will also assess which applicants should see a doctor.

The healthcare within Kriminalvården functions like a health center, which means that as a nurse, you will have a very varied job. This includes working with both somatic and psychiatric health and medical care for inmates, assisting during doctor appointments, and administering medications primarily through dosage dispensing. Documentation is done in PMO patient data journals, and collaboration with other correctional staff is a natural and important part of the job. This includes training and supervising client-facing staff in health and medical care issues such as suicide prevention, emergency care, and medication administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has self-awareness. You find it easy to collaborate with others and have well-founded and clear values. In stressful situations, you remain calm, stable, and controlled. You have a high level of integrity and the ability to make correct assessments and priorities. You are quality-conscious and meticulous, and you have the ability to structure your own work.

To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share Kriminalvården's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally through your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

• Licensed nurse
• Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish
• Work experience in the profession

Desirable:

• Work experience as a nurse
• A relevant specialization or further education for the employer, such as in psychiatry, emergency care, or outpatient care
• Relevant language skills
• Experience as a nurse in various operations within psychiatry and somatic care.
• Experience working independently as a nurse and making your own assessments

Some positions are placed in security class, and a security review with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made.
