Description

The Environmental Analysis and Wildlife Management Unit has about 18 employees who work to achieve environmental quality goals, maintain biodiversity, and achieve good conservation status for species in the county.

The unit is responsible for assignments such as environmental monitoring, wildlife, liming, action programs for endangered species, invasive alien species, species protection, and parts of river restoration, among others through the project Ecostreams for Life.

The unit is now seeking a coordinator for river restoration.

Responsibilities

The main task is to coordinate restoration work carried out with an excavator and maintain contact with landowners or others affected by the measures. The position also involves participation in preparations and planning for the restoration work. To some extent, it also includes performing tasks that involve compiling and reporting data from completed action work or inventories. The work may also involve other tasks within the unit's areas of operation.

You need to have good physical ability as the work often involves long working days under field conditions such as walking in terrain with field equipment and wading in running water.

The work is based in Härnösand, but large parts of the work are located in the area around Solberg in the western parts of Örnsköldsvik municipality, which will involve overnight stays in other locations for a large part of the employment.

If you need a different starting point than Härnösand for work that is not in the field, this is not a barrier to applying for the position.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a high school education or experience that the employer considers relevant for this position. A post-secondary education in natural sciences with relevant focus (such as water, biology, fisheries, ecology, or conservation education) or other education that the employer assesses as relevant for the position is meritorious. You have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.

A driver's license (B) is a requirement.

You who apply have good experience in river restoration with an excavator, either as a supervisor or as a coordinator. Experience with GIS, training for chainsaw work, and certification for electric fishing are meritorious. Furthermore, experience in action mapping and biotope mapping of aquatic environments, planning of water conservation measures, or other work in nature (fieldwork) is meritorious.

We place great emphasis on your experiences from restoration work as well as your personal qualities and are looking for someone who is self-driven, structured, flexible, problem-solving, and has good collaboration skills.
