Ájtte, the Swedish Mountain and Sámi Museum, is a specialized museum that depicts the nature and culture of the mountain region. It serves as Sweden's main museum for Sámi culture and as an information center for mountain tourism. The museum is located in Jokkmokk.

Ájtte Mountain Garden is located a few hundred meters from the museum. Here, various plant environments are displayed, where visitors can learn about the appearance of plants, names in different languages, as well as their ecology and survival strategies. An important part of the operation is to convey knowledge about how wild plants have traditionally been used by Sámi and settlers.

Job Responsibilities

Work together with the gardener to maintain and supervise the Ájtte Mountain Garden. The position includes, among other things, maintenance and development of the garden's plant beds and flower borders. Responding to questions and guiding visitor groups from different countries is also a common recurring task. Daily maintenance and upkeep of the facility's buildings/rooms are included in the work.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is interested in mountain botany and has experience and interest in gardening and public relations. You should be easy to collaborate with and interested in taking care of our visitors, and of course, be prepared for physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Since many visitors come from other countries, it is a requirement that you, in addition to Swedish, also master English. Knowledge of additional languages is a plus. Knowledge of Sámi language and culture is an advantage. A fixed schedule with weekend shifts is included.
