Job Responsibilities

The main task is to engage in your own doctoral education, which includes both your own research and doctoral courses. In addition to doctoral education, participation in teaching and other departmental work (max 20%) may also be included. The employment is limited to 4 years (maximum 5 years after extension with 20% departmental service). Regulations regarding employment as a doctoral student can be found in the Higher Education Ordinance (1998:80).

As a doctoral student, you will be part of a creative and international research environment with seminars, workshops, and conferences, as well as the opportunity to participate in groundbreaking interdisciplinary projects.

More information about the doctoral education can be found on the department's website (https://www.iko.lu.se/forskning/forskarutbildning (https://www.iko.lu.se/forskning/forskarutbildning)).

Eligibility

Basic eligibility for doctoral education is granted to those who have obtained a degree at the advanced level, completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 credits at the advanced level, or in some other way acquired equivalent knowledge within or outside the country.

The doctoral student must, in addition to the general eligibility for doctoral education, have at least 30 higher education credits within the main field of media and communication studies at the advanced level or acquired equivalent knowledge (for example, in strategic communication) within or outside the country.

The doctoral student must also have completed independent work of at least 15 higher education credits at the advanced level.

The applicant must have such knowledge of English that they can benefit from research literature, courses at the doctoral level, and actively participate in seminar activities.

Assessment Criteria

Regulations for employment as a doctoral student can be found in regulation SFS 1998:80. Only those who are admitted to doctoral education may be appointed as holders. When appointing, primary consideration will be given to the degree of ability to benefit from doctoral education. Great importance is placed on the applicant's master's thesis (or equivalent degree project) and the presented dissertation idea. The assessment will also take into account the ability to work independently and in a structured manner, as well as the ability to contribute to good collaboration and a positive research environment in the department.

Application should include
