Department Manager for Ambulance Services

The ambulance service actively works to ensure that patients receive care at the right level, focusing on quality, patient safety, and safe and secure ambulance care. As a department manager, you will play a central role in this work and become an important part of the continued development of the operation in close collaboration with emergency care, municipalities, regional primary care, psychiatry, and other actors such as the police and rescue services.

The position of department manager involves shared leadership together with a managerial colleague in the northern part of the county, Vimmerby, Hultsfred/Virserum, and Västervik/Gamleby. Together, you will lead and plan the operation based on common goals and assignments. You are responsible for the work environment, staff, and operational development. The role includes creating conditions for good collaboration, participation, and engagement. Furthermore, it involves driving improvement work with a focus on quality and patient safety.

You will be part of the ambulance service's management team and work closely with the operations manager, other department managers in the county, and the medical management responsible. Your function is directly subordinate to the operations manager. You have personnel responsibility for approximately 35 employees, including ambulance caregivers, nurses, and ambulance nurses. Together with your managerial colleague, you are responsible for about 70 employees at the ambulance stations.

Over time, you will work as an ambulance manager on call, which means you have overall personnel and work environment responsibility as well as operational management support for the ambulance service in the county during on-call hours. However, this duty is not initially included in the role.

The managerial position is time-limited, and we offer permanent employment in the organization based on your core profession. In this recruitment, we apply tests in our selection process, such as problem-solving and personality tests that measure work performance and behaviors in the workplace.

The ambulance service in Region Kalmar has about 260 employees. During the summer months, the population increases due to tourists and events in the county.

The County Hospital in Kalmar is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County. The hospital is an emergency hospital with specialized care, maternity care, and postnatal care. More than 2,300 people work here to provide good care and high patient safety to the county's residents.
