The municipality of Västervik is now seeking a manager for public environments.

Your Responsibilities

As the manager for public environments, you will be responsible for a team of ten employees working across a wide range of areas, from project planning and operations management to traffic and leisure issues. You will oversee the planning, execution, and follow-up of your unit's projects and ensure compliance with relevant regulations at all levels. Additionally, you will also be responsible for the municipality's contracting budget. Since we work with external actors for the execution of work in public environments, you will also have close contact with them.

You are part of the management team of the community building unit and work closely with both the community building manager and your colleagues. Together, you contribute to the municipality's and the unit's shared strategic development, coordination, and governance, creating conditions for the overall operation to function effectively and cohesively.

We are looking for someone who has

several years of experience in operational management and construction work as a client in a managerial role/senior project manager and who has the ambition to collaborate with contractors, residents, and others to maintain, improve, and develop the municipality's public environments based on the goals and visions set for the operation. Together with your employees, you will build and shape your organization to create a modern and efficient team that handles everything from urgent operational issues to long-term investments. In your role, you will collaborate with physical planning, land and development, sustainability strategists, and other functions within the unit.

Your Qualifications

You have a relevant university degree or other education complemented by solid experience in streets, roads, parks, or project planning. For this position, you also need to have a valid driver's license (B category).

We would like you to have previous experience in public procurement and contracts. It is also advantageous if you have prior work experience with personnel responsibility and/or project management within public administration.

You lead, motivate, and empower others to effectively achieve your goals. You find it natural to coordinate groups, create engagement, and participation. You communicate clearly and ensure that your messages are received and that expectations are clear for all parties involved. You are comfortable giving presentations to larger groups and convey information in an educational manner, both to employees, other authorities, and our politicians.

It is important that you have the ability to switch between strategic work and leading the unit's operational tasks. Structure and quality thinking come naturally to you, and you see the importance of good documentation for your processes as a vital part of the work. To succeed in this position, you must be a goal-oriented person with a strong drive to complete what you have started.

You have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
