E-health Agency is looking for a Director General

The E-health Agency's task is to develop and manage digital infrastructure for healthcare, pharmacies, and parts of social services. The agency is responsible for national infrastructure that enables healthcare actors to share information in a secure and uniform manner and plays a central role in building a national digital infrastructure for health data that will also meet the requirements of the upcoming EU regulation on a European health data space. The agency is also a preparedness authority.

In addition, the E-health Agency has received new assignments in the public health area, including developing and managing the digital service for the state leisure card, which aims to make it easier for children and young people to participate in cultural, sports, and association activities. Overall, the agency is now a central actor in Sweden's digital health and welfare system and is responsible for the development of an increasing number of new digital public services.

The E-health Agency is led by a board that includes the Director General. The Director General is the head of the agency. The agency's headquarters is located in Kalmar, and there are also offices in Stockholm. The number of employees is approximately 400.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a proven good manager and leader with:

  • Very good knowledge of public administration and its decision-making processes, as well as an understanding of the political structure within which the agency operates.
  • A proven good manager and leader with experience in leading through other managers.
  • Experience in development work in a complex organization, primarily regarding governance, efficiency, and cost control.
  • Experience in working strategically with competence supply.
  • Academic degree or equivalent.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English.

You should also have the ability to:

  • Represent an organization, both nationally and internationally.
  • Clearly communicate the complex relationships and contexts that the agency's mission and work entail.
  • Establish and drive networks, create good relationships, and collaborate based on the agency's mission.
  • Understand, coordinate, and balance different perspectives found within the healthcare and social services sectors at the national, regional, local, and private levels in relation to the agency's operations.
  • Create conditions for good internal governance and control as well as effective resource utilization.
  • Lead change work and develop the organization in a strategic, efficient, and legally secure manner.
  • Lead and develop the organization within the framework of a good governance culture.
  • Engage and motivate employees.
  • Represent employer interests and, together with other agency heads, develop the public employer policy.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Competence in and experience with healthcare issues or issues related to digitization and data management.
  • Experience in leading and developing a public agency.
  • Understanding of how data-driven approaches and digital solutions can strengthen organizational development and decision-making.

Other

You must be a Swedish citizen to be appointed as Director General and head of the E-health Agency. The position is classified for security purposes, and a security clearance with background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made.

Salaries are individual and determined based on the requirements of the position and the qualifications and experiences of the manager. Most agency heads are employed for a fixed term – normally, the first employment period is six years.
