Construction Worker for Streets and Parks in Skellefteå

Here, you work closely with colleagues, with a clear mission and the freedom to take responsibility in your daily tasks. No day is exactly the same, and much depends on your ability to see what needs to be done.

YOUR ROLE

As a construction worker, you will help ensure that Skellefteå's streets, roads, water systems, and park facilities function as they should. The work is varied and can involve everything from ongoing operations and maintenance above ground to earthworks and water works, culvert replacements, drainage, and paving. During the winter months, snow removal and ice prevention may also be included.

A large part of the work involves ongoing operations and maintenance in daily life – for example, adjusting and preparing surfaces for asphalting, replenishing materials, and ensuring that tasks are completed in a good and sustainable manner. At the same time, you are unpretentious and can step in where needed, for example, during team absences or when the work requires it.

There is an overall planning, but in daily life, you need to be able to see what needs to be done and take responsibility for getting the work done. Both your supervisor and unit manager are always available, and together you ensure that the work is carried out efficiently and with high quality – even when conditions change.

YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone with experience in construction or earthworks. If you have training in construction and civil engineering, it is an advantage, but the most important thing is that you have practical experience and a willingness to do a good job.

The work is physical and takes place outdoors year-round, so you need to have good physical ability and enjoy working in various weather conditions. You collaborate well with others, take responsibility for your work, and contribute to the overall functioning.

In this role, you will meet the municipality's residents, which means you need to feel comfortable communicating in Swedish in a professional and respectful manner. You will also use digital tools for simple reporting in your work.

You need to have a B driver's license for manual transmission. It is an advantage if you also have a C driver's license, a certificate for wheel loaders, or training in Work on Roads.

YOUR NEW WORKPLACE

You will be part of the Streets and Parks department within the Community Building Administration, where we together are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the municipality's public environments. Here we work closely together, help each other in daily tasks, and step in for one another when needed.

Skellefteå is in a strong development phase, which makes our mission both important and concrete. The work you and your colleagues do is visible – every day, all year round.

The working hours are normally scheduled from 07:00 to 16:00, with the possibility of flexibility. On-call duty is included every fifth to sixth week.
