About the assignment

As a Design Manager, you will work within the Swedish Transport Administration's area of responsibility for Major Projects, which is responsible for some of Sweden's largest and most complex infrastructure investments. The focus is on executing projects with high quality, at the right cost, and according to schedule.

The assignment is linked to the Norrbotniabanan, a new approximately 270 km long railway between Umeå and Luleå. The program consists of several parallel projects at different stages, where design and production are ongoing between Umeå and Skellefteå, while the section Skellefteå–Luleå is in the planning stage.

About the role

As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for the design work prior to the contracting phase within road and railway construction. The assignment is linked to the Norrbotniabanan and involves close collaboration with project managers and other functions in a complex and socially important project environment.

In this role, you will among other things:

• Plan, lead, and follow up on the design work with responsibility for time, cost, quality, and content
• Lead and follow up on design contracts and manage changes in consultation with the project manager
• Coordinate design consultants, specialists, and adjacent projects
• Ensure that documents, technical requirements, and deliveries meet the right quality
• Be responsible for communication and notifications to consultants and external parties
• Work with risk management and contribute to ensuring that workplace safety requirements are considered in the design
• Participate in procurements and follow up on financial documentation related to the design

This assignment requires travel for work, primarily to Skellefteå and Luleå.

Mandatory requirements

All requirements must be clearly stated in the CV, including periods, assignments, scope, and responsibilities.

1. At least 4 years of experience as a assignment leader, design manager, sub-project manager, or project manager for assignments that have included land and construction work in the detailed design phase within railway or road. Also, at least one approved reference assignment.
2. Documented education in contract law (AB and ABK).
3. Documented education in BAS-P/BAS-U.
4. Documented education in the client's occupational safety responsibility, or the possibility and willingness to fund and complete the training with a passing result before the start of the assignment. A valid course certificate must be presented no later than at the start of the assignment.
5. Ability to express oneself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
6. Valid B driver's license.

Assignment information

The assignment should start no later than June 1 but can start earlier by agreement up to 24 months with the possibility for the client to unilaterally extend the contract by up to three (3) years, one year at a time, on unchanged terms.

Scope: Estimated workload for the assignment is 90-100 percent of annual working time, amounting to 1,700 hours.

The base location for the resource consultant is Skellefteå or Luleå. This assignment requires physical presence at the Swedish Transport Administration's office, 5 days a week.
