Healthcare Assistant to the Emergency Department

The hospitals in the west are an administration within the Västra Götaland region and consist of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. Approximately 3000 employees work with us every day to provide good and safe specialist healthcare of the highest quality.

We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference for others! The emergency department currently has about 45 employees.

We receive emergency cases in surgery, orthopedics, and internal medicine during the emergency department's opening hours between 08:00 and 21:00 every day of the week. In surgery and orthopedics, we also accept children. The emergency department has approximately 22,000 emergency visits annually. We are now looking for a healthcare assistant/nursing assistant who wants to be part of our team this summer. You should be stimulated by varying work pace and be good at prioritizing your tasks. You want to contribute to optimizing the acute care for our patients, and your perspective is characterized by concern for people.

Responsibilities

Here in the emergency department, you will be part of interdisciplinary teams together with doctors, nurses, and medical secretaries in the acute care of patients with surgical, orthopedic, and general medical conditions. You will work in various positions in the emergency department, such as in triage or in a team. The work is varied, challenging, and stimulating.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a trained healthcare assistant, alternatively a medical student or nursing student. If you are a medical student, we prefer that you have completed semester 6. If you are studying in the nursing program, you need to have completed semester 3 or semester 4, depending on your educational program.

Experience in emergency care is a significant advantage, preferably from an emergency department. Knowledge of casting is a merit. We are looking for someone who is stimulated by varying work pace and is driven to work in a developing environment. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability, where the ability to collaborate in a team and prioritize are important qualities, as well as being flexible.

Protected Title for Healthcare Assistants

As of July 1, 2023, the title of healthcare assistant is a protected title. This means that you will need proof from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title of healthcare assistant within healthcare and social services.
