About the position

Being a newly graduated nurse is an exciting challenge, but it can also be associated with a feeling of uncertainty.

To create a personalized and safe introduction, we want to offer you the opportunity to shadow as a nursing assistant already during semester 6 of your nursing education and tailor the content to you and your needs. You will first accompany a nursing assistant to be trained in basic surgical nursing, and then, when you are ready and approaching graduation, follow the nurse's work.

After obtaining your license, you will be employed as a nurse and have at least 6 weeks of training with an experienced nurse. During your introduction, as a nursing assistant and/or as a newly hired nurse, you will have check-ins/reflections and teaching from a nurse to deepen your competence in surgical care and increase your confidence. We also give you the opportunity to visit other units that care for surgical patients (outpatient clinic, emergency department, surgery, postop, and ICU). This is part of increasing your understanding of the whole.

About us

The nursing wards 2B/C are a joint department with one staff group, one department head, and one assistant department head. The department is divided into three teams; ÖGI (upper gastro), NGI (lower gastro), and KAVA (surgical emergency care department). We apply pair nursing and staff each team with a pair, one nurse and one nursing assistant. There is also a resource during the day and evening.

Between 07:00 and 15:30, there is a coordinating function (nursing assistant) who mainly receives all incoming phone calls, distributes incoming patient flow as inpatients are discharged and leave the department. Books all transports and has contact with the municipality, surgery, emergency, and care placement coordinator to optimize patient flow.

Patients come to us from different places depending on the reason for admission, which can be planned or acute. Mostly, they come from Postop after surgery or the emergency department, but often from another hospital after treatment or from a nearby department, as we collaborate regarding care load. It also happens that a patient has been to an outpatient visit and then needs to be admitted to the ward.

Currently, there are 21 care places, and the hope is to soon be able to open more as there is a need. The care load is continuously assessed, and the care team is strengthened as needed.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are studying to become a nurse in semester 6 or are a newly graduated nurse.

Collaboration skills, attention to detail, commitment, and flexibility are seen as good qualities. A professional and humble attitude and good reception are highly valued. We are looking for someone who wants to engage in active work towards the development of modern healthcare. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
