Project Assistant in Infectious Medicine and Proteomics

Workplace Description

The research group in infectious medicine and proteomics, led by Professor Johan Malmström, studies host-pathogen interactions and immune responses using quantitative and structural mass spectrometry.

A primary focus is MS-based immunopeptidomics to identify naturally presented pathogen-derived antigens during infection, with the long-term goal of enabling rational development of vaccines and immunotherapies.

We are now seeking a project assistant at 100% for 12 months with a desired start date of March 1, 2026.

Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility

  • Establish and conduct in vitro infection models
  • Work with cells
  • Perform cellular and immunological analyses (flow cytometry, ELISA, qPCR, microscopy)
  • Prepare samples for proteomics and immunopeptidomics analyses
  • Data documentation, quality control, and presentation of results

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • Master's degree (MSc) in immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, or a similar field.
  • Experience with infection models and cellular analyses including tissue preparation.
  • Strong background in immunological and molecular techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.

Other

The position is a SÄVA (special fixed-term employment) at 100% for 12 months. The desired start date is March 1, 2026, or by agreement.
