Resource Nursing Assistant for the Staffing Unit at Visby Hospital

In Region Gotland, you can develop and grow, both as an individual and together with others. When you work with us, you contribute to making Gotland an even better place for people in all walks of life. We make each other better.

The Staffing Unit

Visby Hospital is Gotland's only hospital and includes units for both emergency and planned care such as emergency reception and specialties in medicine, surgery, cardiology, infection, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, orthopedics, surgery, and intensive care.

Psychiatry is also part of the hospital's offerings but is geographically separated from the hospital in its own facilities.

The island location requires the resources of a large hospital while offering the closeness and community of a smaller hospital. Our employees have a broad work area, with great opportunities for learning and continuous development, as Visby Hospital, being the only emergency hospital on the island, handles all patients on the island.

The main task of the Staffing Unit is to staff short-term vacancies within Visby Hospital, where everything from single shifts to shorter continuous periods is relevant.

Your Tasks

As a resource nursing assistant within healthcare, you will work variably across several different units and departments within Visby Hospital. Since the work spans several different specialty areas, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of tasks and people with different types of care needs.

Your work as a nursing assistant involves working closely with patients in general care, providing support and practical help in ADL, assessing and performing nursing actions in consultation with a nurse, participating in and supporting the patient in self-care and the activities defined in the individual care plan. Surrounding tasks related to patient care are also included in daily work.

Depending on which unit you work in, the tasks may vary with an emphasis on more medical technical tasks, checks/vital parameters, blood samples, EKG, and wound dressings, to more communicative, supportive tasks for well-being, mental health, and managing various symptoms and difficulties in the patient's daily life.

Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, weekdays, and weekends.

Who Are You?

We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant with a focus on emergency care and who has experience working in healthcare in various inpatient departments. Experience working in emergency reception and intensive care is advantageous.

To thrive in the role, we see that you are flexible, easily collaborate with new colleagues, and adapt to changing conditions. You also take responsibility for the tasks assigned to you and follow up on your work. You easily take initiative and can quickly understand how different care units operate. You learn easily, both theoretically and practically, and you see new situations as a positive challenge. Stress resilience is a prerequisite for the job. Since you often change workplaces and colleagues, it is required that you are flexible, have great social competence, and the ability to collaborate with different professional categories. You have a professional attitude and the ability to prioritize even in stressful situations. You need to be able to seek information independently and work autonomously. You are attentive, accommodating, and have a genuine interest in helping others. You have a good ability to adapt your behavior according to what the situation requires.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Before a hiring decision is made, a background check is conducted through an extract from the criminal record.
