“We make the world a little better, one person at a time”
We are looking for someone who wants to help develop Nytida together with us! We provide support to children, young people, and adults for the entire life’s needs within disability and psychosocial issues. Nytida operates throughout Sweden. Working with us means many opportunities, a great responsibility, and not least, the joy of seeing people thrive and grow. Our vision is to make the world a little better, one person at a time. In our daily work, this means that each individual in all our operations should live the best life possible and be treated with respect. We have a corporate culture characterized by our values: respect, responsibility, knowledge, and simplicity. Those who work with us share these values and actively contribute to keeping them alive.
Description of the Operation
Solhagaskolan is an adapted primary and secondary school within Nytida, located in Lödöse, which belongs to Lilla Edet Municipality. The school has a cheerful team that has worked together for a long time. The target group at the school is students with intellectual disabilities, autism, ADHD, and possibly other additional diagnoses. The school has space for about 17 students. For more information about our operations, visit us on Instagram or our website.
Job Description In your role as a teaching assistant, you will help create a safe foundation for our students who need extraordinary support as well as specially designed pedagogy and social training. You will be present as support by the students' side throughout the school day. An important part of the work is to stimulate and motivate the students to develop their abilities and create opportunities for learning. The work is characterized by low-arousal responses, clarifying pedagogy, and alternative communication strategies. You will work to stimulate and challenge the students' development and learning, in close collaboration with colleagues. Your tasks will also include everyday chores such as purchasing groceries, kitchen tasks, cleaning, and other practical tasks that may arise. Your working hours will be Monday to Friday from 7:45 AM to 12:45 PM (no work during school holidays)
Skills, Experience, and Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone who has the courage, experience, and willingness to work with our most challenging – and challenging – students. Our school is an adapted school focused on students in great need of special support. Here you will meet a student group where aggressive behavior, self-harming behavior, and other problem-causing behaviors are part of everyday life.
This assignment is not for everyone. It requires a strong psyche, a secure personality, and a clear structure. You need to be able to stand firm when the wind blows, take responsibility in pressured situations, and at the same time meet each student with respect and professionalism.
We work with low-arousal responses (LAB) as a foundation. This means that we do not let ourselves be provoked, but focus on understanding, regulating, and responding to behaviors with calmness and clarity. You need to be attentive, reflective, and secure in yourself – with previous experience of the target group.
You have at least a high school education, preferably in care and social services or childcare/child and leisure, or other education. It is an advantage if you have experience with low-arousal responses, students with neuropsychiatric disabilities, and/or intellectual disabilities.
We are looking for someone who has an understanding of differences and who is flexible in their thinking. You need to be solution-focused and preferably have experience working in schools and with people with disabilities. You are a responsible, empathetic, and meticulous person who has a genuine interest in supporting people with disabilities. You have a positive attitude, focus on opportunities, and see it as your obvious responsibility to contribute to a positive work climate. You should be able to work both independently and in a team. You need to be in stable condition both physically and mentally as it is important to be able to support the students.
You need to have very good knowledge of Swedish both in writing and speaking; this is very important, so if you do not meet this criterion, we ask you not to apply for this position. Since the oldest students at the school can be around 20-21 years old, it is an advantage if you are older than them.
A check of the criminal record will be conducted in connection with employment. We recommend that you apply for this now.
We kindly but firmly request no contact with advertisers or other sellers of recruitment services.
