Animal Control Officer Wanted!
Do you want to contribute to Sweden's ability to act quickly and correctly during severe outbreaks of animal diseases and support rural development in Uppsala County? Do you enjoy alternating between fieldwork and office work? We are looking for an Animal Control Officer!
Department of Agricultural Control and Housing Support
The department primarily conducts field inspections to verify that agricultural subsidies are paid out correctly and carries out checks of animal registers and ear tagging on livestock to strengthen Sweden's ability to act quickly and correctly during severe outbreaks of animal diseases.
The department's work is largely governed by the routines and instructions of the Swedish Board of Agriculture, which in turn are based on the EU's common agricultural policy. The department also processes applications for housing support from the National Board of Housing.
Job Responsibilities
As an Animal Control Officer, you will work with field inspections of agricultural livestock and the conditions that apply to farmers seeking EU support. Your tasks will involve verifying the information submitted by farmers to the animal register and in their SAM application, both in the field and on screen.
The work involves field visits to farms for checking ear tagging and documentation. Fieldwork is carried out together with a colleague. The inspection work also includes data reporting and editing in the Swedish Board of Agriculture's system.
Your tasks will be varied and include both field visits and office work. Other tasks within the department may also be included in the role. Work with area and basic condition controls may also be relevant to the position.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a relevant university degree as an agricultural engineer or animal agronomist. You have excellent computer skills and a basic knowledge of Swedish agriculture. Since the job involves travel within the county, a B driver's license is required.
Experience in animal husbandry within agriculture is an advantage. Previous experience in animal inspections, ear tagging checks, or similar is also meritorious.
As a person, you are proactive and take responsibility for your tasks, planning, organizing, and prioritizing your work effectively. You have good collaboration skills and a positive attitude towards your work while being meticulous and having strong analytical abilities. You have an excellent ability to express yourself in spoken and written Swedish and represent the County Administrative Board in a trustworthy manner. We place great importance on your personal qualities.
Conditions
The position is a temporary appointment from April 1, 2026, or by agreement until December 31, 2026. Your job title at the agency will be case officer.
