Operations Leader for the Customs Criminal Unit

The Swedish Customs has the mission to limit organized and large-scale crime and prevent the illegal importation of narcotics and doping substances, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, and other goods that threaten life, health, and the environment. The Customs Authority aims to reduce the number of criminal networks engaged in drug, alcohol, or tobacco smuggling or economic crime.
The Customs Authority consists of four operational departments: the Control Department, the Revenue Department, the Intelligence Department, and the Customs Criminal Department. The Customs Criminal Department is responsible for the investigative activities of the Customs Authority and technical intelligence gathering. The operations work within the framework of preliminary investigations of crimes or actions that will lead to preliminary investigations of crimes aimed at prosecuting the masterminds behind criminal activities, reducing the profitability of crime, and significantly disrupting criminal activities.
The Customs Criminal Department consists of a national IT and technology center responsible for covert coercive measures, surveillance technology, and IT forensics, the Customs laboratory, and four customs criminal units responsible for their respective geographic areas: South, West, East, and North. The North Unit is divided into operational areas: surveillance and investigation.
About the Position
Your main task as an operations leader is to lead the part of the operations that is conducted as preliminary investigations in the form of controlled deliveries, operations, initiatives against serious crimes, and line cases against large-scale and organized crime. This is done on behalf of the Customs Criminal Management and the public prosecutor. With the leadership responsibility comes the overall responsibility as well as the task of providing team members with assignments based on operational assessments. You make operational assessments and primarily assign tasks to investigators, analysts, financial investigators, and criminal investigators to carry out decided missions.
As an operations leader, you will closely collaborate with the intelligence unit, where you will serve as an entry point for the intelligence unit to the Customs Criminal Unit by supporting their cases, both during development and implementation, and in some cases also lead operational efforts in the intelligence cases produced by the Customs Authority's intelligence unit.
As an operations leader in preliminary investigations, you will continuously document, follow up, and report on actions taken to the intelligence unit, the Customs Criminal Unit, and the public prosecutor. The position primarily involves daytime work, but it may also include on-call duties.
We are looking for someone who has
- Basic education in crime fighting or equivalent education/experience obtained in another way
- Good experience in operational crime-fighting work
- Good experience in the entire preliminary investigation process
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form
- Swedish driver's license, class B for passenger cars
- Swedish citizenship.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Leadership experience
- Experience working with covert coercive measures
- Good knowledge of the crime that the Customs Authority investigates

The position may involve on-call duties during certain periods.
The position involves both domestic and international travel.
Online tests may be conducted.
A probationary period of 6 months applies.

The Customs Authority is a total defense authority, and upon employment, you will be assigned to the Customs Authority in a military capacity.
