Your mission

As a kitchen assistant in the Sickla principal area, you are responsible for creating a pleasant and well-functioning dining environment for both children, students, and educators. You start your day at Sickla School where you prepare vegetables and lunch, and then for the rest of the day, you work in the kitchen at Universum Preschool. You prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks with a focus on a pedagogical and inviting presentation. The meal is an important part of the school and preschool's activities, and your role contributes to making it both educational and enjoyable.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with children and wants to contribute to a sustainable and inspiring dining environment. For us, ecological and economic sustainability is a natural part of everyday life, and the children are active in recycling and environmental work. Our meals are nutritious, varied, and appreciated – at least half of the ingredients are organic, and we serve vegetarian food at least once a week. The job may also involve heavy lifting.

Your tasks:

• Prepare and serve lunch and snacks to preschool children, school students, and staff.
• Handle daily transportation of food from Sickla School's kitchen as well as returns of empty containers and trays.
• Manage dishwashing and daily cleaning of kitchen equipment and premises according to our self-monitoring program.
• Order food and consumables via our e-commerce system and receive deliveries.
• Manage waste and recycling in accordance with our routines.
• Other kitchen-related tasks.

You will be part of Sickla School's meal team, which together prepares and serves nutritious and varied meals to children, students, and staff. You will also become part of the Universum Preschool staff group.

Your experience

For this position, you must have:

• experience of independent responsibility for a preschool kitchen, large kitchen, or other experience deemed relevant by the employer
• experience and knowledge of food hygiene and HACCP training completed in the last three years
• experience working sustainably with a focus on reducing food waste
• experience ordering food via e-commerce systems such as UBW or similar
• knowledge of special diets according to the school law's requirements for nutritious food
• good ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing
• good digital competence

It is an advantage if you also have:

• high school education in hotel and restaurant management or other education deemed relevant by the employer

You see the meal as an important part of the preschool's educational activities and contribute to making it a positive and educational moment.
