Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University
The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University has a broad research profile with strong research groups focused on cancer, genetic and autoimmune diseases. One of the core ideas at the department is to stimulate translational research and thereby promote closer collaboration between medical research and healthcare. Research is conducted within six research programs: cancer precision medicine, cancer immunotherapy, genomics and neurobiology, molecular tools and functional genomics, neuro-oncology and neurodegeneration, and vascular biology. Parts of the activities are also integrated with the departments of oncology, clinical genetics, clinical immunology, clinical pathology, and hospital physics at Uppsala Academic Hospital. The department has teaching assignments in several program educations, independent courses, and international master's programs within the medical faculty. The department has a turnover of approximately 550 million SEK, of which about two-thirds are external research grants. The number of employees is about 400, of which about 100 are doctoral students, and there are a total of over 850 active in the workforce. Job Duties
Bioinformatics analyses of large-scale genomic and transcriptomic data from tumors. Integrative data analyses of plasma proteomics, genomics, and transcriptomic data for the identification and validation of new biomarkers. Experimental work aimed at the development and validation of new antibody-based drugs against cancer.
Qualifications
Master's degree in computer science or bioinformatics. Documented experience in programming in Python and working with cluster or cloud services for data analysis. Experience in analyzing whole genome and transcriptome data. Documented experience in working with cloning, human cell models, preparation of DNA and RNA, and microscopy analyses.
Desirable and/or Meritorious
Ability to independently plan, document, and perform laboratory work as well as analyze and compile results. Experience in laboratory work. Good collaboration skills. Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
About the Employment
The position is temporary, 12 months. The scope is full-time. Start date by agreement. Place of employment: Uppsala
