About the Job

As a nurse at the Surgical Clinic, you will meet a wide range of patients with different medical conditions and ages. We also work closely with the surgical outpatient clinic and the palliative care consultation team.

We are a cheerful and positive team characterized by good collaboration.

You will receive a good introduction where you will be guided by a few nurses. There is an opportunity for mentorship with an experienced nurse in the department during your first year of employment. In the department, two development nurses work a couple of days a week to support and educate in surgical care.

We work in teams and strive for a more patient-centered approach in the clinic. We highly value the work environment and actively work on this issue at both the departmental and clinic levels.

As a night nurse, you will be responsible for 12-14 patients together with a nursing assistant. In total on wards 72/83, there are 3 nurses and 3 nursing assistants working each shift.

Every other week, we have afternoon training where, for example, doctors and nurses lecture on relevant topics.

The managers of the departments, Jessica and Anna, look forward to your application. It is important to us that you receive a good introduction when you come to us, which gives you security. We want an open climate in the department where it is always okay to ask questions. A good work environment where we work in a structured way and focus on the best interests of the patient is important to us. Good collaboration where everyone is treated nicely is the guiding principle for how we run our operations.

At our clinic in Halmstad, there are two wards with different specializations. Ward 72 specializes in elective surgery in the areas of colorectal, breast, and vascular surgery and has 12 beds. As a nurse on ward 72, you will work with both pre- and post-operative care, as well as palliative care within the mentioned categories. Here you have the opportunity to gain broad experience as you handle elective patient categories while also needing to act quickly in emergency situations and work with patients at the end of life.

Ward 83 specializes in emergency care and has 26 beds. Common diagnoses on ward 83 include ileus, cholecystitis, appendicitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, trauma, and sepsis. On ward 83, we focus on the acute flow with short hospital stays and the best possible care for our patients.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with at least two years of experience working as a nurse.

In the role of a nurse in the surgical department, it is required that you are flexible and can adapt based on the situation's demands. You see the value of good collaboration and contribute to this through flexibility and engagement. For you, it is natural to have a professional and empathetic approach towards both colleagues and patients and their relatives. We are looking for someone who wants to work goal-oriented and has a strong interest in development and improvement work. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
