We are currently looking for a microbiologist at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden to work in our microbiological laboratory and as a project leader in Moisture Safety and Indoor Environment.

About usWithin the Department of Building and Property, we drive the development of climate-neutral, resource-efficient, and resilient built environments where quality issues are a key starting point. We work with research and support for various actors in the construction and property sector for quality-assured and sustainable building and management.

Prioritized areas we are currently working on include:

  • Resource-efficient buildings including circular material flows

  • Moisture-safe buildings including microbiology/mold

  • Good indoor environment

  • Energy-efficient buildings

  • Reduced climate impact

  • Climate-adapted built environment

  • Quality-assured building and management processes

About the roleYou will work in a team of eleven specialists in biology, moisture safety, and indoor environment. We offer you a stimulating and varied job where you will be engaged in developing the area of moisture-safe buildings with a good indoor environment. Your main tasks will include:

  • Independent planning and execution of microbiological analysis work and testing in accordance with standards, analytical methods, and instructions, as well as evaluating and assessing the results

  • Independent planning and execution of non-standardized testing and evaluations in research projects

  • For the right person, the role also involves initiating, leading, and conducting research and development projects in collaboration with colleagues, partners, and clients.

  • You will also have the opportunity to be part of our training programs for the construction and property sector.

  • The location is Borås, where we have our microbiological laboratory.

Requirements for the role:

  • PhD researcher in a relevant field for the position

  • Microbiological competence in the area of wood durability (wood-decaying fungi and bacteria as well as mold and blue stain)

  • Experience in microbiological laboratory work

  • Several years of experience in research and testing activities in the field

  • Good language skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

  • Good ability to work in a team with others to drive joint projects forward

  • Driver's license B

Meritorious

  • Environmental science competence
