Environmental Cooperation Eastern Skaraborg is a municipal association responsible for, among other things, food control and environmental supervision in our member municipalities Falköping, Hjo, Karlsborg, Skövde, and Tibro. Starting from 2026, Essunga will also be included as a member municipality. We have taken over the supervision of most permit-required activities within the scope of the Environmental Code from the County Administrative Board.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Environmental Cooperation Eastern Skaraborg is now seeking an environmental inspector to work with contaminated areas and permit-required activities.

As an environmental inspector, you will be part of a team that works with supervision, assessment, and information within the scope of the Environmental Code. You will work with the supervision of environmentally hazardous activities, but other tasks within our field may also arise. Primarily, the idea is that you will work with contaminated areas and permit-required environmentally hazardous activities, but depending on your experience, the focus may change. The work includes planned inspections as well as handling incoming cases.

With us, you will have a varied and enjoyable job where you mix both administrative authority work, fieldwork, and customer contact.

In your work, you will inventory contaminated areas, conduct responsibility investigations, plan your own supervision, carry out inspections, write reports and decisions, and follow up on any deviations. An exciting development project to digitize the processing within our organization is ongoing.

The supervision is conducted in project form based on focus areas. The self-organizing teams are given great freedom to plan, follow up, and improve their work. Our working method is successful and provides good conditions for high engagement and personal development.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a relevant university education, such as a specialization in environmental and health protection inspection, environmental science, and/or work experience that we assess as equivalent and suitable.

Experience from supervision of permit-required environmentally disturbing activities is particularly meritorious. Experience in exercising authority through supervision/control in the field and good knowledge of applicable environmental legislation is also meritorious. Professional experience from working with contaminated areas is also particularly valuable.

Good computer skills are a prerequisite as well as the ability to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish.

You are a team player who easily collaborates and contributes to the team's development. You are proactive, results-oriented, and have a good overall perspective.

You are stable and secure in yourself and can distinguish between the personal and your professional role. You feel comfortable making difficult/uncomfortable decisions at times.

Since the role requires many contacts, we place great value on your communication skills, and a good attitude is a given.

A driver's license for a car with a manual transmission is a requirement.
