Advanced Psychiatric Care at Home, APIH, is a new form of care within specialist psychiatry and offers a flexible alternative to traditional psychiatric inpatient care. Cases come from both outpatient and inpatient care and are designed based on a fundamental assessment where a safety plan and care agreement are developed together with the patient. For many of our patients, the care period begins in one of our ward placements. We then have the opportunity to transition to working with the patient in their home environment, with home visits as needed during the day, evening, and weekend. This means we can shorten the time spent in the ward and focus on empowering the patient in their home environment.

Our work is primarily conducted in the patients' homes with a focus on participation and empowerment for both the patient and their relatives. In this way, we can both catch the patient when they are struggling and work towards long-term improvement. APIH also has a respite place in one of our inpatient care units where struggling patients receiving care at home can come in for short stabilization. Research has begun to follow the development of the intervention.

We are transitioning to the title of care assistant and will gradually phase out the title of caregiver across all our psychiatric services. This work started on November 1, 2023. The change in title will not affect the need for specialist competence in psychiatry. Specialist competence remains very important and will continue to be developed. Within the administration, work has begun to review what is needed for continued competence development, increased professional knowledge, and development opportunities related to patient work.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a new colleague to join our team!

In your role as a care assistant, no day is the same. You work in a team with home visits where you and your colleagues treat/guide patients. Your target group is very diverse, and patients of different ages with varying psychiatric issues may be present. Together with the patient, relatives, and your colleagues, the treatment interventions to be implemented are determined. We have a close team collaboration where all professional roles are important.

Work also takes place in the evenings and weekends, according to a schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained care assistant or specialist care assistant in psychiatry. This means that you have an approved upper secondary education in health and care (2500 points), an approved health and care education via adult education (minimum 1350 points), or another equivalent care assistant education. The position requires good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. Experience working as a care assistant/caregiver in psychiatry is a requirement for the position. As regular travel is involved in the position, a valid B driver's license is also required. Good computer skills and basic knowledge of our journal system Melior are considered advantageous.

As a person, you are calm and flexible with the ability to change pace when needed. You can work independently as well as in a team and have a strong commitment to your work. Furthermore, you are structured and have the ability to plan your work well. We place great importance on personal suitability.

Attach your care assistant certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare if you have received it or your diploma with your application. If you have not yet received the certificate, you will be given the title of care assistant in the meantime. If you were permanently employed as a care assistant on July 1, 2023, or if you wish to retain the title of caregiver and were employed as such before November 1, 2023, please submit a certificate confirming this.

A background check will be conducted before any employment.

Selection will begin in week 4, 2026. Interviews are scheduled for January 28 and February 6, 9, and 11-12.

OTHER

As of July 1, 2023, the title of care assistant became a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title of care assistant within health and care. If you currently have a permanent position as a care assistant and are offered a new position, you can retain your title of care assistant until June 30, 2033. At any interview/employment, you will need to present proof of the protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate that you were permanently employed as a care assistant on July 1, 2023. If you do not currently have a professional certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare or are covered by transitional provisions, this means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant and not care assistant.
