Labor and Establishment

The Department of Labor and Establishment is part of the Education and Labor Administration within Region Gotland.

The Department of Labor and Establishment has a broad mandate where all areas are focused on guidance and strengthening efforts to support individuals to and through studies and work. The three main areas are study and career guidance, employment, and labor and establishment assignments.

About 60 employees work in the department with varying competencies and assignments. Based on the department's broad mandate, it is an organization that in many ways needs to be modern and progressive. The employees working within the department are driven, engaged, and take pride in their assignments.

The department collaborates with several different actors to succeed in the objectives of the assignments. The various areas within the department are influenced by both regional and national guidelines and directives, and to succeed in collaboration, different levels of cooperative work are needed.

The department is an important player in labor, studies, and establishment.

Your Tasks

Summer Fixers is part of Region Gotland's summer jobs for youth. The operation involves team leaders working together with youth on various practical assignments within Region Gotland's operations, such as pruning bushes, weeding, decorative painting on paved schoolyard surfaces, and simple furniture maintenance. The work primarily takes place outdoors, but indoor work also occurs. The assignments are located all over Gotland. We always start from Visby and drive to the workplaces with minibuses.

As a team leader, you will actively participate in planning the operations and guide the youth in their daily work.

Your tasks include leading groups where you must have the ability to address any difficult situations with the support of your colleagues and immediate supervisor. You will be two supervisors responsible for the group.

You will inform, instruct, and follow up on the youth's work by encouraging and supporting participation and their own initiatives. In your tasks, you will ensure that common agreements are followed.

Who Are You?

It is advantageous if you have a degree in social pedagogy or equivalent, or ongoing studies in the field. Previous experience working with youth, knowledge of neuropsychiatric disabilities, and skills in areas such as gardening and simple crafts are also seen as advantageous. A B driver's license is required for the position.

The work requires you to have the ability to plan and structure the work, as it is crucial that you stay one step ahead to contribute clarity to the group you will be guiding. You need to have good pedagogical skills, as a large part of the work involves instructing, practicing, and following up with the group.

You need to be able to work with clarity and boundary-setting and be willing to address difficult situations that may arise when leading a group. You need to have a high ability to collaborate since you are part of a team and be flexible as the day's work may change due to weather conditions.

About the Education and Labor Administration

As part of Region Gotland, we contribute in the Education and Labor Administration to the learning and development of children, youth, and adults. We are responsible for, among other things, preschools, primary schools, after-school care, adapted primary and secondary schools, cultural schools, upper secondary and adult education, labor market initiatives, youth centers, and the reception and establishment of newcomers. Together, we provide opportunities for lifelong learning.
