Project Manager in Urban Development

The City Planning Administration is responsible for driving and coordinating the physical planning of Gothenburg. We contribute to creating a sustainable city for current and future generations. Our mission includes responsibilities for strategic planning, detailed planning, land surveying, building permit management, and providing geographic data. Approximately 450 people work within the administration.

The City Planning Administration is part of the urban development administrations in Gothenburg City. Together, we work to create conditions for a functioning infrastructure, quality housing and premises, an inviting public environment, and strive for the city to be sustainable from all perspectives.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We at the detailed planning department of the City Planning Administration are over 100 people with a fantastic mission: to develop Sweden's second-largest city through urban planning. We work together with other competencies in the city and with many different stakeholders to make Gothenburg a green, close, and dynamic metropolis. Right now, it is more exciting than ever to work with us as there is a lot happening in the field of urban planning!

We are looking for an experienced project manager with a solid background in urban planning and a strong desire to drive complex urban development projects. With us, you will have the opportunity to work in project form alongside friendly and competent colleagues who, like you, are passionate about good cohesion, collaboration, and developing processes. Our workgroup consists of a diversity of competencies, including other project managers, urban planners, specialists, and necessary competencies from other administrations.

As a project manager with us, you will work in a structured manner to create progress, lead, and distribute work within various projects. You are responsible for establishing a functioning project culture where all members work towards common goals. Your responsibilities include leading and coordinating detailed plans and programs within our large urban development areas. Some of our urban development projects that you may work on include the Slakthusområdet, Lindholmsförbindelsen, Central Area, and Gullbergsvass.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a driven project manager who enjoys working on challenging and complex projects in a politically governed organization. You have a master's degree in architecture, physical planning, or similar. For the position, you must have at least 5 years of experience in detailed planning and leading urban development projects in metropolitan environments.

You are a team player with a holistic view who enjoys collaborating with colleagues and various stakeholders. You have good knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Planning and Building Act (PBL) and the Environmental Code. Further education in project management is an advantage.

As a person, you are structured and results-oriented. You drive your projects independently and are proactive. You have the ability to lead different project teams and can explain decisions clearly and pedagogically in various forums. To thrive in the role of project manager, you are communicative, proactive, and have a good overview of what needs to be done.
