Reporter at NSD in Gällivare
Do you want to work and grow in a forward-looking and vibrant editorial team? Then NSD is the place for you!
Gällivare is a city in transformation. The urban transformation is underway as Malmberget is being phased out and new residential areas are emerging. At the same time, major industrial investments are being planned as the mining industry shifts to more sustainable processes. The municipality is also facing challenges in welfare and in attracting new residents. For a journalist, this means a constant flow of important, complex, and human-centered stories.
We are now looking for a reporter for our editorial team in Gällivare. With us, you will cover both fast local news and the larger contexts that affect the entire region. You will meet the people behind the headlines, broaden perspectives, and explain why what is happening matters.
We are looking for someone with a sharp news sense who wants to tell stories in a creative and engaging way. You always put the audience at the center and base your work on what is relevant, understandable, and important for our readers, viewers, and listeners.
At NSD, you will become an important part of a driven editorial team with a strong team spirit and a close relationship with the audience – our readers are our most important clients. We offer a varied and developing everyday life where no day is like the other, and where collaboration, ideas, and journalistic courage are encouraged.
About NSD
NSD is the largest daily newspaper in Norrbotten and covers Sweden's ten northernmost municipalities. Our central editorial office is located in Luleå, but we have local editorial teams throughout the county. In Gällivare, three reporters work covering Gällivare and Jokkmokk. Your news manager is at the news desk in Luleå, and each day starts with a joint digital morning meeting. Despite the distances, we work closely together.
Our vision is to be first with the news and best at following up, explaining, and putting them in context. We meet people, scrutinize those in power, and create journalism that touches, engages, and makes a difference. With creative storytelling, we want to be an obvious and indispensable part of our readers' everyday lives.
To thrive in this role, we see that you are curious, have an easy time connecting with people, and enjoy investigating and digging for the best story. You like to work in a dynamic environment where unplanned tasks occur, all to capture the most important news for our readers. It is advantageous if you have a journalism degree and have worked as a journalist, but other work experience can also be relevant.
You have your own idea work and are stylistically skilled in both text, live reporting, and can handle both images and moving material. You have a good ability to make contacts and build trust with both interviewees and our readers.
A B driver's license is required as driving is part of the job.
We are a values-driven company that strives for equality and diversity and therefore values applicants with different backgrounds and experiences.
The position starts on April 1, 2026, but the start date can be adjusted.
To ensure a safe and secure workplace, we conduct background checks on selected candidates as part of our recruitment process. We apply a probationary employment period.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a strong commitment and a desire to constantly develop as a journalist.
- Enjoys independent work and is used to working across different channels.
- Is analytical and responsive to what our readers are asking for, with the goal of delivering journalism that both updates and touches the reader.
- Wants to contribute to NSD's work for equal reporting and the effort to reach new target groups.
Meritorious:
- Familiarity with our coverage area, which extends from Kiruna in the north to Luleå in the south and from Jokkmokk in the west to Haparanda in the east.
- Experience in editorial work.
- Journalism education.
Selection and interviews are ongoing, and the position may be filled before the application deadline.
