Technician, Satellite Communication

The Swedish Armed Forces is seeking reinforcement with new employees in Satellite Communication for FMTIS, located in Enköping. About the Unit

FMTIS has five units that perform operation and maintenance of the Armed Forces' command systems. The Operational Unit Mitt (GE Mitt) is one of them and conducts activities that ensure the Armed Forces' ability to communicate and lead, around the clock - all year round. The unit has a geographical spread in Central Sweden as well as Visby and is staffed with both military and civilian personnel. The Enköping Tele Operational Department currently consists of 2 sections with different focuses, one of which is Satellite Communication. The work is performed partly in the Armed Forces' facilities and installations at the local site, but the job also includes travel to carry out work on satellite communication equipment throughout the country, and overnight stays at other locations may therefore occur to some extent.

Main Responsibilities

  • As a technician in satellite communication, you will perform maintenance on equipment within the entire Armed Forces, both on land and aboard ships.
  • Short system support trips abroad may occur.
  • You will have contact with users, operations personnel, satellite operators, and production managers at the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration as well as suppliers.
  • You must be prepared to guide users through troubleshooting procedures and simple fault correction over the phone.
  • You will prevent and maintain equipment specifically for satellite communication.
  • In the position, you will receive the detailed specific training required to carry out your work.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Driver's license B, manual transmission.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • 3-year upper secondary education with electrical/telecommunication focus in data communication, or equivalent competence assessed as equivalent by the employer.
  • Good social skills.

You need to be structured and service-oriented as the work involves planning, execution, and direct contact with customers.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

MERITORIOUS

  • Experience within the Armed Forces.
  • Experience in satellite communication.
  • Military driver's license.
  • Experience with Cisco.
  • Experience working at heights.

Other

Employment form: Permanent. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not employed by the authority.

Employment rate: Full-time.

Work location: Enköping, although travel and overnight stays may occur within the position.

The position is civilian and is referred to as Telecommunications Engineer within the Armed Forces.

Start date: As soon as possible or according to agreement.
